Dallas, TX to Reno, NV

We are taking a trip in September (10-11 days total duration) to visit family in Reno for a few days. Planning to travel through Amarillo, Albuquerque, Kingman, and Las Vegas on the way there, to get there fairly quickly in time for a particular occasion. Coming back home, I am planning to do a different route of some sort, and hoping to "see some sights". Wouldn't even be opposed to heading north and/or east from Reno, as we are contemplating a visit to an RV park we like up in Oregon.

I have spent some time in the western part of the country, and have done a fair amount of research of things to see between here and there. Just interested to hear from anyone else that might be familiar with the territory, to hear some recommendations of RV parks to stay at, things to see, places to eat, roads to avoid, etc.

Thank you.

If you haven't been there, I would recommend Yellowstone. It's a bit out of the way, but..

Crater Lake and a number of things south of Bend, OR to see. There is a great little Native owned and run coffee shop in Chiloquin, a great logging museum at Collier State Park, Newberry National Volcanic Monument, The High Desert Museum, these last two just south of Bend. These are just a few things to see and do, but don't know how you will have time if you are only giving yourself less than two weeks for the whole trip.
