New Alpine

So, after two years in a Big Country, we ran across an Alpine 3590RS and decided to make the purchase. We have used it a couple of nights on the way home from purchasing the unit. Tomorrow, we are headed to Camp Hatteras in Rodanthe, NC for the July fourth week-end. So far, we are very pleased with this unit. 6 pt leveling system and the whisper quiet ac units were the deciding factors in this purchase and they did not fail us on our first trip. My time from set up to cold brew was reduced by 20 minutes. Looking forward to many more trips.

Congrats on the new Alpine, yes the whisper quiet and level up are a great feature for sure, wouldn't leave home without it.... another feature to go with that cold brew is a portable ice machine, that in my opinion is another must have ..Enjoy ..

Yes indeed...welcome to Alpine! We have been fulltiming in ours for a touch over two years and love it. We have approximately 50,000 miles on it. We lost count of how many RVers we meet that want to have a look inside, and stand in amazement of how much it "looks just like a home!"

Enjoy your Alpine and safe journeys!!!

Yep, we love ours as well and the look and feel like home was the selling point that swayed us to the Alpine over others we looked at.

We are thoroughly happy with our Alpine. Just went over the 1 year point without any issues I couldn't resolve. A couple pieces of trim popped lose, etc... but nothing unexpected. Just about to clean and treat the roof. Very comfortable, very popular everywhere we have been so far. Enjoy.

CONGRAT'S!!!

We love our Alpine, and are glad you do too! Hope you have many happy miles... and memories.

Actually used the 6 point system just last week to change a flat on the road. It took the work right out of it. On the campsite it is great to level and stabilize.

Always wondered if the 6 point could be used In case of emergency. What's the procedure you used to bring up just the one side?

I have used my 6 pt level up to put new tires on it. Just switch it to manual mode and raise whichever side needs to go up.

I lower the front jacks to disconnect and move the truck. I then autolevel the rig. Once that is done, I switch to manual mode, and lift the rear jacks Then if I still need more lift, while still in manual mode, I lift the front. The center jacks have already deployed as part of the leveling process, and will adjust automatically. I found that when I tried to use the side lifts the system wasn't as happy because of the angle lockout.

Another easier method that I discovered by accident, is to park across a mild side slope,. Quite often the autolevel process will lift the downhill side off of the ground.

Obviously, for safety reasons, never put anything under the lifted camper that you're not willing to crush, unless you cribbed and chocked the unit.

I read something somewhere in the lit with my system not to use it for changing tires. Personally I believe this is a safety concern and Lippert is saying that so they aren't held liable if it were to fail and cause an injury. I have had the system raise wheels off the ground when camping on a slight slope without any problems.

I actually contacted Lippert just to know the procedure for doing this with regards to changing a tire. This is the response they sent which is verbatim out of the manual.

Lippert Components Inc. recommends that a trained professional be employed to change the tires on the
unit. Ensure that the unit is properly supported with jack stands, or other adequate devices, under the
frame of the unit prior to commencing any service or repair procedure. Any attempts to change the tires or
perform other service while unit is supported solely by the LCI Level-Up® with Automatic Leveling System
could result in death, serious injury, unit or property damage.

I spoke with a Lippert rep after we bought the rig new, because their advertising bragged that they could lift the entire rig, without twisting the frame, but their Manual didn't mention it.

At that time, and "Off of the record", he told me that for liability reasons Lippert would not recommend the procedure, but it was totally do-able.

Have had "wheels up" more than once on un-level sites, just using "autolevel". I figure if the computer thought it was O.K. ... who was I to second guess it?

My personal advice is to use your own judgment, and don't stick anything under the rig that you're not willing to crush. Three time up... three times down... no incidents. Works for me!

Although we have not (as yet) had to change a tire on the road, I know for a fact that the 6 pt auto level system will lift both tires off the ground on either side. Campground in Elk City, OK.

Thanks everyone. We had a great week-end, traffic wasn't too bad, no sharks and plenty of room at the ocean. Great campground if you're ever out that way.

Welcome Home StacyB,

Sorry, we didn't mean to steal your thread! We are just an over-enthusiastic crew.

Glad you had a great inaugural voyage, and a GOOD TIME! That's what it's all about!

How do y'all like that whisper a/c? And is anyone using it in areas where the temp is over 95 degrees? We currently have a Laredo and are looking at upgrading to the Alpine. The dual a/c's in the Laredo can really cool it down quick with the dumps open in temperatures around 100 degrees. Just really curious to know if the whisper air can do that.

I had mine hooked up last week doing some cleaning/mods, 98 degrees out and it cooled the RV down 74 quickly (that's where I had it set). I know some others are having problems getting theirs down below 75/76 range, but they have a model with a lot more windows than mine and I think the thermo from the windows is causing their problems. I absolutely love the heating and the AC in the Alpine. The heat pump is great when the temps drop.
