A Series of OH NO Moments

We sometimes talk about "response times" or "what if" events when we discuss some of the safety aspects of towing. A friend sent me this link and I thought it might be "eye opening" and "beneficial" to think about "what if I were towing my Keystone and this happened to me"

Granted, the music is "Eastern European" and the "funny writing" isn't recognized by most of us on the North American continent, but the situations happen here just like they do in Russia.

Think about what you'd do if confronted with any of these "happenstances".

There's a lot to be said about being lucky, even more about situational awareness and defensive driving.

Here's hoping none of us are ever exposed to a situation like this, but "what if" ??

Scary stuff there. And people wonder why they shouldn't be allowed to phone text while driving...

That demonstrated mentality contributed to us winning the Cold War.

I thought much the same thing with the lady standing in the middle of the highway when that 18 wheeler swerved to miss her. I thought, "How much vodka is onboard?"

Dashcams are widespread in Russia as a form of surveillance, additional evidence in court, and as a guard against police corruption and insurance fraud. They have been called "ubiquitous" and "an on-line obsession", and are so prevalent that dashcam footage was the most common footage of the 2013 Chelyabinsk meteor, which was documented from a dozen angles.

I guess they don't worry about "Big Brother" they worry about Little Comrade.

The last frame stated that the video is dedicated to the "Second Birthday Community". Its hard to believe but nobody died in any of these accidents and the video definitely validates Russian fatalism to some exetent.

Dashcams are going to continue to increase in popularity.

Especially as more States go to "no- fault" insurance coverage taking away most of the incentive for a PD to even bother investigating.

I suspect we'll see many things happening here at home that we never realized were occurring or not the extent thereof.

Something is driving (no pun intended) the death rate on the roads.

Russian Dash Cam videos

Those Russian Dash cam videos are pretty amazing, I would assume you'd see just as many from the USA, if not more if people here used dash cams as much as in Russia. A common one they show in those Dash cams is people trying to scam the drivers, claiming they hit them crossing the street.

Take a look at this - other than hilarious, makes you want to get a Dash cam for your vehicle:

Exactly why I have one now, unbiased witness. Way too many crazy drivers out these.
It never amazes me when going to the Coast running in the right lane in a hill passing zone at 55 to 60 (posted 55) to have that one last driver that just doesn't want to be hung up behind a big truck and 5er, almost run you off the road to squeeze in, only to have them slow to 50 once in front of you!

Wow, that is insane...literally. I am also amazed that the big rig somehow stayed upright when swerving around that pedestrian in the first video.
