Turned U-dinette into booth dinette

This month has made 3 years of owning my Premier. Unlike most people, I never liked the cramped U-dinette and preferred the booth style. I removed the center section and made a new table. It was fairly quick and relatively easy. Now instead of 4 people at a half sized table, 4 people can fit at a bigger table.

Very nice. Starting in late 2013 this is one of the changes Premier made. We have a wide table with 2 bench seats with drawers. Again, nice job.

Thanks all! Yes, I was envious of the later Premier's with the change to a booth style! I took photos of new ones at the dealers to get ideas.

We did that with our Cougar. Love, love, love the larger table and the bench seating. Those U dinette tables won't even work for a good game of cards, let alone seating four people for a meal.

Now if I could figure out something to replace that air mattress couch!

I don't even have a booth, I have the table and chairs. The DW asked about this when we bought it last year, said someday perhaps I make one. Well, I showed her your pictures. She loves it, guess I'll be into that, this coming winter.

Nice job.

Booth instead of Table and Chairs

It's always personal opinion about what we personally want in our RV, but it seems like every RV out there has the booth, and the last 2 TT we had usually have to do that because it has either a furnance, water heater, ducts, or even the wheel hump, and personally I've never like the booths - I think mostly because I'm 6'1", and trying to slide in and out is a somewhat difficult, even though I have a 38 inch waist.

We were so happy to find the table and chairs in our current model, and don't think I'd go back to a booth.

Plus, there is all that storage space in the seat of the chairs on our Cougar.

Your conversion looks really nice, were you able to use the existing fabric or did you need to order new material?

We had looked at the 207RBS and liked everything about it except for the lack of seating at a tiny folding table. We ended up getting the 204RBS as we preferred the full table with seating for four.

Those are the cushions that came with the camper. I just removed the center bench and cushions that were associated with that. It has the curved shape towards the wall but it seems to be fine that way. Last week camping we got 4 adults in there with a 5th in a chair on the end. It worked out very well.

I might experiment with going from 2 to 1 leg and placing it in the center of where those two are now. I think it will still be very stable since it is attached to the wall. That will increase the leg room and make it easier to enter and exit.

Well I just talked to the boss (DW) about this again, and now she really likes the chairs. I must admit that it saves even more room when we don't need all four chairs. And if someone does show up for dinner, we can move outside. This was just in time as we were at the lumber store just about ready to buy what was needed to change out to ta booth. Strike one project, now back to the stairs. I do like what you guys have done.

The booth turned out really nice and looks like you have so much more room, Greg. I think we have the same TT as you have but I noticed you have curtains on the windows. Did the curtains come with your TT or did you add them? I have been thinking about doing that.

Hello! The curtains came with the trailer. I looked at a different 2011 28RL, same model, but that one had the hard window surrounds. There were a couple of differences despite it being the same model and year.

I have made some changes to it myself:
Replaced the wallpaper border with the wood trim.
Replaced my 2 door windows with clear windows
Added steadyfast
Built a counter top extension
Added smart tile backsplash
Added central vac
Replaced the mattress with a tempurpedic
Added pot and pan drawer under the stove. It was completely empty behind that panel!

I just like making the trailer my own!

I would really like to do this to mine, how did you attach it to the wall? Is it easily detachable so it can be used for a bed?

Hello, sorry for the delay. I just saw this today.
I attached it to the wall with a bracket similar to the one that the outdoor grills hang from on the outside wall. It is easily removed so you can lower it to create the bed. If you need a photo I can take one for you.

A photo would be very helpful, I would like to do this project and install a bed lift for easier access to the under bed storage before the spring camping season starts. Thank you for sharing!

I'll update with a photo after work. Here is the mount I used. One bracket attaches to the edge of the table, the other bracket to the wall. Then then table "hangs" on it. The other end of the table is supported with a traditional pedestal leg.

Dinette mod

I have a bullet premier and we took out the back bench like you did but was wondering if screwing the wall mount table support would cause any problems? What kind and length of screws did you use? Dw is afraid of screwing anything in the slide out wall because we don't know what is behind that wall. We also made drawers under the banquette. Until I saw your post I was going to install a 3rd post at the back instead of screwing something into the wall. We are new to camping since last year and this is the first time we own a txt and love it.
