weight distribution

I have a 2010 2500 4x4 long bed big horn dodge. With no weight i am 34 inches high at the tailgate lowered. I load my 2014 f- 342 monster 5 th wheel and my drop is 5-1/ 2 inches. Is this an acceptable distance . Thanks kip. PS 15 to 16,000 lbs loaded.

The title of your post is a little mis-leading. Weight distribution is not used with 5th wheels.

I don't have the same truck or the same 5th wheel but after "dropping" your monster on the truck, are the two units level or close to it? If the rear end of the truck is sitting quite low, I would look into installing air bags or some other spring helper to help reduce the amount of drop.

My drop is only 2" but different truck, different 5th wheel, and different weight so how mine behaves isn't relevant. The two units are very close to level after the two are hitched.

What you need to look at is the payloadrating for your truck. You are likely overloaded. A 15k fifth wheel will have a 3000 lb pin weight if properly loaded. In my opinion, that is too much weight for any 3/4 ton truck to handle. The 2010 era Dodge 3/4 tons are especially known for having low payload and soft rear ends.
Something to consider.
