torsion suspension and tires

I know many boat trailers have this, as do I vs. the leaf springs. It seens most travel trailers have leaf springs. Last weeks trip to the coast I was following a R-POD travel trailer, they make 17 and 18 ft travel trailers GVWR 3500-4000lbs. We where traveling at 55-60 and I noted that the tires grossly bounce up/down like a balloon hitting the ground. They look like at the low point the slide walls contact the road. I have followed others boat trailers and seen the same type of tire bounce. I have never seen that on a travel trailer leaf spring. Of course I do not know if those trailers are overloaded or tires under inflated. I have seen it enough to think it may be the type of suspension without enough travel. Any expert opinon about my thoughts.

My first guess would be the tires were not balanced.

My brother's Forrest River TT has the Dexter rubber torsion bar suspension. He has never complained about it. His suspension does not use equalizers. Each of the 4 wheels are independently sprung and, without shocks, I would think there would be a lot of tire bounce?

My 2 axle boat trailer has torsion axles. My single axle utility trailer has a torsion axle. I like them. No excessive bounce. The wheels hit a hole and it doesn't affect the wheel on the other side of the trailer.
My 5th wheel? Of course not.
Some really old trailers and home builts that had coil springs seemed to be constantly bouncing....long slow bounces.

My Forest River 7k snowmobile trailer has torsion axles. They are great and it rides better at than any travel trailer I have owned. Even my Laredo with the equal flex. I have probably 50K towing heavy enclosed snowmobile trailers with torsions. Wouldn't buy anything else. My brother has a forest river 5th wheel with torsions also and loves them. If I ever need new axles on the Laredo they will be my first choice.

Like I said I have them on the current 2 axle boat trailer and have on 3 others before this one. I have not felt the tire bounce while towing. Watching the tires on the trailers I mentioned going from tall lean tire to one nearly flatened over a bump and back to normal. I notice that the trailer is not bounceing. These are on single axle trailers. My best guess is the tires are over loaded or under inflated. Thanks for the comments.

My brother has a 30' 2005 Airstream. It has the torsion axles and shocks. Has only been pulled 30 or 40 miles since he bought it though, was damaged and he is rebuilding it. Was with him when he bought it and it seemed to ride very well for the 20 mile ride home. One of Airstreams big claims is how well balanced and how well they pull.
