Cougar H.C. Microwave

Last week I took our Advent Microwave out of our 2014 Cougar 321RES and returned it to General RV (Wixom, Michigan). It was kicking out after 2 minutes of cooking time. Today I picked up a new unit and installed it in the trailer.
Less than a week and General RV came through for me.
Happy trails,

Carlos,
No it never tripped the breaker. It would just stop and the display would go blank. Buttons wouldn't work. About 4 minutes later the display would partially come back. I would enter a new time on the clock and then start the microwave again. About 2 minutes later it would go out again.'
Keystone replaced it- no problem.
Will test it out next week...
Happy trails,

Thanks Bill. I guess I will have to take the microwave out and check connections. Maybe switch out the breaker, might be the easiest to rule out.

Thanks again

Well, well, well.... Last Wednesday I brought the trailer home to load up for a trip and install the "NEW" microwave. The microwave came "dead on arrival"!!!
I took it out and returned it to General RV (in Wixom). They said it would take a while for a replacement. Planning on two more trips this month so I hope it's not to long a wait.
These ADVENT microwaves don't seem to be of very good quality. Our last Jayco trailer's microwave worked great for 7 years.
Hope the third one works!!!!

Carlos -

Another possible cause for the microwave to be tripping the breaker is if, for example, your RV is wired for 30A, you might be using the microwave along with one or two other items (A/C, HW heater, or ??) that put you over the 30A "limit".

That's one of the reasons I bought my trailer with 50 Amp service. But, you are right- on 30 Amp 2 big appliances could trip the circuit breaker.
Happy trails,

Happy trails,
If your unit is like my Cougar with a 50 AMP breaker panel everything is on one 30 AMP main breaker and the other 20 AMPS is for the 2nd AC if installed. If you do not install the 2nd AC or run the 2nd AC you can get by on 30 AMPS pedestal in a camp ground. Check your breaker panel and you might find that everything is on a 30 AMP main breaker except the 2nd AC service.
Now it could have been changed since my 318 SAB was built in 2010 but I believe others units have been built the same way.
