Installing 30 amp service

I am installing a 30 amp service receptacle at home. Should I use a gfi breaker at the main service panel for this circuit? Thanks.

When I installed mine recently, I did not use a GFI breaker in the box. It was not required by code. If it is required in your service area, then yes, you must use it. If it's not a requirement, it's pretty much a matter of choice. I see no significant benefit from installing one. I don't recall ever seeing one on any campground outlet I've ever connected to.

I've never heard of it - but that doesn't mean anything... LOL

I doubt it's required since its not a traditional "household" outlet.

Your local governing body likely does NOT have its own regulations.. Likely just adopts a specific version of the NEC.

I think my county is still on NEC 2005.
