2013 Bullet 230bhs

Hello all,

I'm very interested in the bullet 230 bhs, my problem might be the weight and would like to know what you all think.. The dry weight is advertised around 4400 lbs with a tounge weight of 475. My 2013 ford explorer limited with tow package is rated at 5000 lb max and a 500 lb tounge weight. I feel like this might be pushing the limits when I put a few things inside. What do you think? Too much to risk?

Yes, you are pushing the limits. Dry weight means "as shipped". You will add easily 800 lbs if not more to the trailer. I have about 1,800 in mine.
You need to work from the gvwr of the trailer (max weight trailer is rated for). The loaded tongue weight will be 10 to 13 percent of that figure.
That trailer needs a half ton truck. If you are staying with the Explorer, stick with a trailer with dry weight of around 3500 and you will have a safety margin.

I have a 230 Bullet and had attempted to pull it with a Tacoma 4x4, it was ok at best for a short trip. I quickly upgraded to a Titan pro that pulls it with muscle. As stated you need to figure your gear packed into camper plus some and then figure what you have inside the truck including yourself. Expect about 7 to 9 mpg with the explorer if it has to work hard.

You will exceed the tongue weight as soon as you drive off the dealer's lot with two propane tanks and a battery loaded on the tongue.

That sure is a nice trailer, though.

Ya that's exactly what I was afraid of. Dang, wanted that trailer too. Oh well, thanks for all the input.
