Today in 1944

Today in 1944, Allied forces began the liberation of Europe, as they stormed the beaches of Normandy. The boys of Bedford, Virginia, members of the 29th Infantry, will never be forgotten for the price they paid for the freedom of our great nation. Let us all take some time today, to be thankful, reflect on the meaning of being an American, and to thank a small Virginia town for paying such a big price. As we open our doors today to face the world, let us remember what those young men faced when their doors opened on what would be forever remembered as D-Day.

Salute to the "Greatest Generation" of Americans. There sacrifice and dedication to liberty should never be forgotten. It is our responsibility to teach the next generation what they did to preserve life and liberty! Let us never waiver in that task.
