Generator EMS Open Ground

Bought a Champion Inverter Generator and tested it out today with camper. My Progressive EMS is giving me an open ground error. Is the common or do I need to do something with the generator to prevent this error? I am electricity dumb. One thing to note, my dogbone 30-50 adapter did have a slight dark and melting look to one of the flat posts. Could this be the cause of the open ground? Obviously need a new one, but think maybe I am missing a step to the generator as well. Thanks all.

You need to make a grounding plug that goes in the generator when you have a EMS. Check out utube. Or you can buy one online. Change out the dog-bone and try to fine out why you have dark and melting spots. Hope this helps you. DDG

I made* a plug that bonds the generator neutral and it corrects the issue. It simply plugs into one of the 110v outlets and will prevent the EMS error.

*DISCLAIMER: unless you are qualified to make one correctly and safely, I would suggest just buying a pre-made one for $10.

You guys are great. Didn’t know quiet what to google to find answer but now I see it. Very easy fix. Surprised I didn’t know about this already. Guess not all my camping friends have EMS systems not that I think about it.

I just have been turning my ems off when using my generator.

I’ll need to look at these other options.

yes that will work. My first experience was just like the OP when on my first trip and had to make one on the road. I never knew they even existed before.
