no key to safe

We just purchased a 2005 Keystone Everest. I found the safe hidden under the drawer with the instructions. It looks as though the battery is dead and there was no key. It sounds as if maybe the key is inside it. Any ideas on how to open it without tearing it up? can I get a new key? Thanks

Can you tell what type of key it takes? Regular or “barrel”?

If it’s a regular key, a good locksmith should be able to pick it open. Barrel locks are a PITA but can be done. I spent 7 yrs as the “other locksmith” at the prison I worked at and found I had a affinity to picking barrel locks

There are "many" YouTube videos showing how to pick a lock. I inherited my mother's lock box when she went to the nursing home. She had no idea where the key was. Her house was completely emptied out (she had no clue ... Dementia you know), and when we were searching for the key, it just never turned up.

Now, I had the lock box, and I knew she had some important stuff in there. I ended up watching some good ol' YouTube Videos, tried what they said, and was shocked I actually did it. Got it open. Found 37 dollars in it, and her instructions .... "When I die this is what I want you 3 kids to do". And papers for her original mortgage on the house! Well, I guess to her, those were the most important things!

Anyway, YouTube has many good videos how to pick a lock. Check them out. Good luck. You CAN do it!
