Trailer brakes

I’m new to the forum but I do have a question for those that have a keystone cougar. I have a Chevy 2019 duramax 2500, and a cougar 27RES pull trailer. (2019)
Question is the inside truck braking is set at 6.5 for the last yr. and just recently I applied the truck brakes and the rear tires on trailer locked up.( no hard braking). Not sure why or what to look for on trailer end. I’ve used it about seven times this yr with no problem. The trailer brakes are electric, if anyone could send me in the right direction it would be appreciated
Thx

Welcome to the forum. Did ALL the wheels lock up? I.E. there were four skid marks on the pavement?

The trailer brakes are wired in parallel. Therefore they AL get the electricity at the same time and with equal voltage. The brakes also are the same brakes used throughout the lines so they are not specific to the Cougar line.

I would just be observant and see if it happens again. I don't know what happened, maybe the axle jumped over uneven pavement when you were braking? Maybe the brakes are adjusted tighter but I think it would be unusual to have a problem of too much braking on one axle. Perhaps someone with more knowledge will chime in.

Welcome to the forum. I have my GM original equipment controller set to 6. Used to have it set to 10 but long story short, reduced it. Never had my tires skid though even when set to 10.

Thx for the heads up. when it stops raining here I’m gonna hook it up and have the wife follow me to see what brakes are locking up on trailer. It would be nice if it was a one time deal. Will advise

I'd find a deserted straight road, or a large empty parking lot (lot's of those at schools and malls around here) and give it a good test. If they lock up again get out and see how many locked up. If it's only one then you could have a mechanical issue where a broken spring or star wheel adjuster is wedging between the shoe and drum. If all four are locking up adjust the controller down. If you can't replicate it then I wouldn't be too concerned.

If I had my DW follow me I'd be scared to death that she would be preoccupied with watching the trailer wheels that she would end up rear ending the trailer. I do love her dearly but she's a terrible driver!
