Rubber Roof

I have a 2015 Keystone Sprinter 331RKS, I have the warranty forever program on my RV and had the warranty inspection performed in August this year. One of the key inspections is the roof which was all satisfactory, I will note the RV stays indoors when not being used. I was returning from a campground on Labor Day weekend when a friend who was camping with me got along side me and noticed the front right section of my rubber roof was bubbled up and flapping, this was the area that transitioned from the front fiberglass cap to the rubber roof. Once I got home, I went up to inspect the roof and found the self leveling caulking was cracked and there was no evidence of where air could get under the rubber roof The roof was in excellent condition. The roof although is required to be inspected in warranty forever, is NOT covered. I will need to remove the original caulk, clean it and re caulk with new self leveling caulk. Has anyone else had this problem.

The caulk may not be the problem. It is common for the adhesive that holds the the rubber down to the plywood to fail (usually not installed correctly) and the wind blowing over the roof to cause lift and appear to be flapping or bubbling. What I am trying to say is ... it may not be the wind getting under the rubber but blowing over it. If the old sealant (original ) is just cracked yet adhered to the rubber, you may not have to remove it .... just clean it well and reseal the cracked areas. JM2˘, Hank

Several others including a very recent and still active thread. Seems to be a common problem this year. Use the search function to find and learn about other reports and experiences.

Let us know how this turns out in terms of warranty (even if aftermarket) - normal response seems to be "inadequate maintenance" - which certainly isn't true in every case.
