Headed to Fort Wilderness

We are departing tomorrow for Disney. We will be checking in at Fort Wilderness on Monday. Making a couple stops along the way, the 18 month old is not too fond of long car rides.....this is what I told DW. Really, I don't want to miss the Iron Bowl at 3:30 tomorrow!!!!!

I am looking forward to seeing the campground at Disney. Got a golf cart rented for the stay and kinda getting excited......could just be for the vacation, tho. I know the kids will have a blast and that is the main thing.

Will post pics while we are away. Should be nice weather, "Sunny and 75"!!!!

Sounds GREAT

Hey there...we have our RV in Dahlonega. Will be in Florida early Jan thru early March. Spending February in Okeechobee. First 3 nights of March we are booked at Disney Fort Wilderness. That wraps up our winter trip and unit goes back to R Ranch in Dahlonega.

Please send me your "experience" in a PM as you can.

LOVE Florida and only live in GA because we are retired and grand kids live 2 miles away Can't miss their growing up! Spent many years in FL BUT never camped at Disney. Excited about that being the wrap of what we hope will be a great winter escape.

Be safe....

Mel,
I will send our experience to you for sure. I am waiting on the DW to get home from work so I can go get the camper from my shop. (She had to work Thursday and Friday 48hrs). She will surely be in a good mood!!
We are just south of you in Woodstock and I am through Dahlonega at least 2 times a week.

We have all day Monday in the campground, so I should be able to scope out a lot that day!!

We stayed at Ft Wilderness a few years back, it was nice alittle pricey for me thou. Sounds like your wife is in the fire service? Brings back memories of me working 48hr shifts

Be safe and have fun

No, she is a midwife and delivers babies at Northside in Atlanta. Only did 2 on Thanksgiving, but had a new Mom deliver at 8pm, c-section at 9:00pm and the last one was at 6:45 this morning. Her shift is over at 7. She was not very happy. All is well now. Both kids are in bed and we are settled for the night!!

Mel,
We are here and settled. The preferred sites are a bit tight. Doable but tight. The first sight we were directed to, a nice fellow had his f250 parked where I could not get my truck past it as I was backing into our site. I pulled up three times to cut the corner shorter and try to get in there, but it was not doable.
They moved us without a problem and I got in the site without a problem. The concrete is short for our camper as I put both axles off the concrete. Then there is plenty of room.
When we return, I will only do a premium site..... Much difference and only $7 per night more expensive!!

I am headed there on Thursday for the first time and would really appreciate any tips you can spare me. To top things off this will be my first time backing in to a spot.

Got this map if Ft Wilderness with the Loop Numbers. It should help ya pick your spot before you get there.

If you haven't done so already register with Disney and check in online. During the check in process you request spots for 5th wheel, loop and wood views.

We had trouble with shore power so be ready to troubleshoot but Disney took great care of us.

I am from the south but have a soft spot for Michigan because I spent a lot of time in Holland, mi when I was I stationed in Great Mistakes, Il way back in the mid 80's.

I'd definitely like to go back but only during spring, early summer or mid fall.

Go Blue!

Early spring is July 2, spring is July 3, summer is July 4 and fall is July 5th... So I guess "Mid fall" would be July 6th ???
