Re: Tow vehicle transmission question

IF I were to buy a HiPo Mustang/Camaro/Dodge, etc. it would have to be a manual transmission as I grew up with 3,4 then 5 speed units in performance vehicles. My sig truck has a 6 speed auto with Tow/Haul along with the capability to manually shift it via shift lever switch. So far in almost 98,000 miles, with well over half towing a trailer, no problems have been encountered. I am not a real fan of Tow/Haul if for no other reason then when it shifts down while descending a hill the engine(diesel) rpm goes from about 1500 at 55 mph to 3500 or so to maintain that speed and it's a hard shift. I manually shift instead and move the rpm up more gradually and usually slow down some at the same time.

Good luck if you really want a manual in a pick up - tough to find one, gas or diesel power.
