Mine comes from an old nickname during my time as a Ford service tech. Getting good paying jobs divided up between techs produced a kind of feeding frenzy and some of us were pretty creative at getting the gravy jobs or "soup" as we called it. I was one of those. One day I showed up for work to find my buddy had placed a large soupbone on my toolbox for all to see and started calling me Rodgebone (Roger+bone). The name stuck. Lottsa Mustangs mentioned in this thread - '86 & '92 GT five-ohs were mine.

Back before I started college, I took 2 years off after H.S. to save money, and quite honestly to get some drinking out of the way and mature so that I didn't flunk out!
Anyone remember three two beer?
Well on the days when we had work the next morning and we could not go out and "put a good buzz on", we would sometimes hang out at the local PUTT-PUTT. Back then, they had a few pinball machines. Well the only arcade games out back then was either Skee Ball or Pinball. So when Space Invaders and the Asteroids arcade games showed up, we started to play those. A new experience for us, and so much better than Pong that's for sure. They were brand new, and I got good enough to get my name on the leader board a few times.
The machine would post the highest scores with the players initials. LRD. Well, it stuck and everyone started calling me LERD. That name lasted for quite a few years, certainly all through college.
Not so much anymore as I've lost touch with many of them. But my youngest brother and my old roommate still call me by that name to this day.
Interestingly enough, ever since playing the Asteroids game, I never really played video games again. Just have no desire to. Still like pinball once in a while though.

Working in a large petrochemical plant we developed nicknames for departments. Electrical was Sparkies, Pipefitters were Pipefighters, etc. Rotating Equipment was called Gearheads. Thus..

Now I get it. What threw me off was no box of donuts beside the Timmies.

ACJCF2, I retired as Assistant Fire Chief (AC) Dec. 2008. JC are the initials of my first and last name. F2 was my FD radio call sign.

Why your "handle"?
I cheated . I used my Amateur radio callsign.
And that is derived from my prior service and personal initials. Air Force 0 Dave Jeffries.
AF0DJ.

It speaks for itself.
Was in a garage band in the early 60's, but didn't come from there. My youngest daughter gave it to me in the 80's. I would often try to use Jimbo as a login name and it would usually be taken so she added the rokz.

Back in the late 80's I picked fatcat because of the big fat cat that used to sleep (zzz)on my desk. But I have to say over the years I had a lot of people make bad remarks about it, thinking I was bragging about the money I have. Boy were they wrong!

New to all of this our children asked us to not stay in hotels and fly from NH to Alabama (due to Covid)...we live in jackson (JXN) is the common abbreviation. So we named our trailer JXNBBL = jackson bubble.

Back in the '70's I had shoulder length hair and a big beard. One of the guys in the factory (Cat) said I looked like a Wolfman. That stuck. Later someone shortened it to Wolfy. It was to the point that if I put in a repair ticket with my real name, no one knew who it was for.
After awhile for obvious reasons it became Greywolfy.
Then again, for obvious reasons it became Whitewolfy.
Then just shortened to Whitewolf.
Wonder what a hairless wolf is called, 'cause that's next.

Played ball all my life until I forgot how old I was and gave myself a concussion after landing on my head after shagging an impossible pop fly.
I played shortstop until I got too old to move, then went to third until the concussion cut my illustrious career short.
Hence "ssthrd" for shortstop and third.

Way back in the Seventies (dare I say - last century?) when I started my architectural career - drawings were done by hand. It was customary in the title block to have Drawn By and Approved By to show the initials of the person who generated the drawing and who approved the drawing. Mine being GMB - I started getting called Gumby by my colleagues. (I'm sure no one here remembers Gumby or Sky King). It stuck, so when I signed up for this forum I figured I'd use that. To my surprise it was already used so I added my birthyear to it.
