Camping near Seattle

Hey all-

We want to camp near Seattle in late June next year for about a week. Looking for a glampsite for a Cougar 22RBS. Any recommendations??

Thanks!

Dave

Seattle is not RV friendly. The Lake Pleasant RV Park in Bothell is the best choice.

Have things changed? We stayed at the KOA some time ago and had no problems. Take a day trip Leavenworth (Bavarian village).

We stayed in the Burlington KOA a few years ago. Nice enough. $109.00 high season. Rode the train into the city. Worked out great.

I do not agree that Seattle is not RV friendly. True, there isn't much in the city itself but . . .

you say Seattle - - - do you mean the city itself or somewhere in the metro area? The metro are stretches for over 60 miles, south to north - from Tacoma to Everett. then there is the Peninsula - west of Seattle across Puget Sound.

Seattle metro is large and the traffic is AWFUL. For example, it once took me 2-1/2 hours to drive the 28 or so miles from Everett to downtown Seattle. Granted, that was on a Friday evening rush hour, but still . . . it is on a 4 and 5 lane freeway. You want to do as little cross-town driving as possible so determine the area you want to visit and look there.

At any rate, look at the screen grab from the RV Life app. Tons of places. If you stayed on the Peninsula there are numerous ferries that run across the sound to Seattle. The schedules are usually very frequent. Google the Washington State Ferries for info.

Here's a small sampling:

Cascade RV Resort, Sultan, WA - 40 miles east of town - rated 4-5 stars on review sites
Money Creek Campground, Skykomish, WA - 65 miles east - 4 stars on review sites
Tolt-MacDonald Park, Carnation, WA - 27 miles east - rated 4 stars on review sites
Tall Chief RV Resort, Fall City, WA - 25 miles east - rated 4 stars on review sites
Blue Sky RV Park, Issaqua, WA - 20 miles east - rated 4-5 stars on review sites
Flowing Lake County Park, Snohomish, WA - 30 miles east - 4 stars
Denny Creek Campground, North Bend, WA - 30 miles east - 3-4 stars
Kanaskat-Palmer State Park, Ravensdale, WA - 40 miles SE - 4 stars
and there are several casinos - you would need to google/contact each but most have RV parking. Most require you to get their members card.
Tulalip Casino, Marysville, WA - 35 miles north
Clearwater Casino Resort RV Park - on the Peninsula (but fairly close to a ferry that would take you to the downtown Seattle waterfront)

We've stayed at Tall Chief in Fall City several times and really like that it's far enough outside the city that you're surrounded by trees and there's no street noise, but just about a 15 minute drive from shopping and restaurants in Issaquah and just over 30 from downtown Seattle (if you time it right). They have electric and water hookups, but no sewer, though there are 2 dump stations available. Another solid choice, if you can get in is Kanaskat-Palmer State Park. It's a beautiful park, but about an hour drive from downtown Seattle and not much around there as far as shopping/restaurants. There is frequent train noise there though. We didn't have any issues there with sketchy people roaming around there, but read the reviews, especially for state parks, because the closer you get to Seattle proper, chances are there'll be some interesting characters hanging out.

This is something to think about, the ferry terminal in Seattle is at the downtown waterfront. You could easily park at the departure terminal, and do a walk on ferry ride then walk around downtown Seattle.

Having never been there before, I’m not quite sure how to do it. I’d like to stay 40 minutes or so from Ballard Locks.

Thanks for your help! 😀

We've stayed at North Whidbey RV Park in Oak Harbor WA on Whidbey Island.

It was a nice place to stay. it was right across from Deception Pass State Park. There may also be camping in the park as well.
