If you're relying on the furnace to keep you and the trailer warm and plan to continue this camping trip for a few more days, I wouldn't start doing any maintenance/troubleshooting on the furnace. If you have a component that is "working sometimes but not like it should" and you pull that piece off and clean it and reinstall it, you might find that it stops working completely and you're without any heat at all.
Once you get back home and aren't relying on the furnace for your comfort, then "tear into it and try to fix it"....
Looking to see if there's something obvious that's broken is one thing, but if you start taking things apart, they may not go back together and if you can't find a replacement on the holiday weekend, then it could turn into a "cold, uncomfortable rest of the week"....
