hankaye - I'm hoping I can sweettalk the installer into giving me the sled rather than the pole, way you describe it, I have the sled on my back deck now with my other provider, direct had planned to use it in place of theirs, and just giving it to me to hold on to...You can never tell what they will bring til it gets here...hoping for the right freebie....

SlowPoke, Howdy;

Been my experience with the installers that they will give up almost anything
if you ask nicely. I like to be there in person (no stand-ins, DW, GF etc.),
I make small talk and joke around with them. Get them laughing and you
can ask them for just about anything. I've had them strip off 100' of cable,
gotten extra dishes, all sorts of informatiom about how to tweek this or that
in general makes life with a dish easier and the sled. No charge... Just by
making a friend ... Besides ya never know what you can get unless ya ask...

Yep, worked somewhat for the last installer, but he was a lump on a log and din't have many social skills, but I did get SOME info, and a couple roof mats...used one in the TT to protect the floor of the pass thru storage where I set a toolbox, and gadgets...

Hopefully this next installer will be more of a talker...

Thanks Hankaye

Update!!!

Ok, so new sat equip was installed yesterday, and talked to the tech for about 2 hours. He said with the new setup, I wouldn't be able to use my older slimline 4 port LNB with the new Genie for the camper.

Unfortunately no bikini clad DW nor sweet talk of any kind would budge this guy for some freebies. He did show me what I could do with my existing stuff to make happen what I wanted to happen.

I got the new Genie system,a new dish with sled, and a new SWiM LNB, which are hard to find on CList or alike. So these new dishes have a quick release to pull the LNB off. It also only has one cable connection instead of 3 or 4, and only one head making it a breeze to swap in/out from home to the TT.

I modified the old sled from Dish, and installed the swing bracket to it, then by the techs recommendations, cut my 45 degree 2.5" mast to a smaller straight 8-9" section and mounted it to the bracket. This keeps the dish low to the ground. This will only make it bad in areas with alot of obstructions to the SW but I feel confident I can work around it when necessary, or I can throw it atop my slide to gain height, and place it the rubber mat that fits the sled. I did find out the hard way that you have to run the cable directly to the new "power injector" that is required with Genie to feed 21 Volts to the SWiM LNB. then from that to the Genie receiver.

Scrapped the bumper mount idea...So when I go camping, just gotta grab the LNB, power injector, and Genie box to throw in the camper along with the sled and dish for the back of the truck before I leave. I guess I can live with that til I can find people selling the spares on CList....

I gave it a Backyard test run to see how long it would take me to setup, and align and tune in...about 15 minutes total!
