surge protector shut off 5er power

i installed a progressive ind. ems hardwired 30 amp protector and now get an e-2 code which is an open ground. i am powering the fifth wheel with a 2000 watt yamaha generator through the oem power cord. with no ground circuit on trailer, what do i do now? there is a ground lug on generator, but what do i hook it up to? thanks for any help

Just buy something like this

At Home Depot or any hardware store. Then connect the ground and neutral together with a small piece of 12 guage wire. Then plug it into the 15 amp recepticle on the generator. This will take care of the open ground. Plug your power cord into the generator as usual and it should work.

I just did this last week and it solved the problem.

My PI EMS-HW30C unit has a bypass switch on the display, when using the generator I just put it in bypass mode and it works.
