These people are lucky to be alive.

I read this on the Forest River Forum. I hope I posted this correctly

They were real lucky. I have been at or seen several log trucks that lost part or all of the logs and if just 1 log hits a car, it can be deadly. Looked like the log was on the ground than hit by the pickup..

We were towing our new toy hauler home from Alabama Tuesday and on HWY 59 someone was hauling a tractor tire in a tiny trailer. The tire was sitting in the back of the trailer and wasn't tied down and it came out. Luckily it landed on the edge of the road otherwise it could have been a disaster. It's pretty amazing the idiots on the road. This guy was hauling a tractor tire with no tie downs and no tail gate on the trailer and guess he didn't expect it to fall out. It was one of those really lightweight trailers with the mesh flooring, not even wood. There was a vehicle in the lane next to us so nowhere to go.

About a month ago my wife was on I-45 and behind an 18 wheeler hauling one of those huge wooden spools (not sure what they are called). One of them came off and barely missed my wife's car and did hit another car. It damage the other car but wasn't a direct hit. She said the truck driver never stopped, just kept going.

In late 80s a semi truck with a spare wheel/tire racked under the trailer was not secured as needed to be according to DOT rules. It came out and bounced across the highway and into the windshield of a oncoming car and killed 2. After that some drivers got cites when seen with unsecured spares.
