Mine has a 4155 lb payload. The ride quality is firm when unloaded, but not uncomfortable. This is the first shortbed truck that I've had in about 10 years. I've decided that giving up the bed space is not worth the marginal shorter wheelbase advantages, i intend to go back to a long bed when it's replacement time.

2014 ram 3500 megacab Laramie with every option added 4074lbs payload. 38k miles so far and aside from a handful or recalls and tires **** at 38k miles all is good. I weighed in yesterday with the rzr in the garage and I was at 26100 gcvwr. About 500 over. 345 chrome is about 15k loaded ready to camp without toys. I'm at max of the truck and considering ordering a dually

That is exactly why I went with another dually. A SRW is right on the edge of my 342. Wish I could have a SRW for some tight off road spots and to some fishing locations. Other than that around town, freeway, etc it does not matter to me if I have a SRW or a DRW. Well actually backing up my small snowmobile trailer can be challenging since I cannot see it behind those wide fenders.

: dually's don't fit the car wash "tracks" and I assume have rear fender clearance problems.

I drive my dually through touchless carwash regularly. Proximity sensors check size out and good to go.

Gearhead,
Purchased a 2015 3500 Laramie LB SRW 4X2 in May, has the Aisin/3.42:1. The 3500 SRW comes with the 3.42. My payload rating is 4400# and a GVWR of 12000#. Have logged nine thousand miles so far, all is good. Open highway mileage unloaded is 23+ at 62MPH and towing anywhere from 9-14 depending on terrain. To me the extra cost of the Aisin is worth it, had the 68RFE on my previous truck. Much smoother shifting under load with the Aisin, either will get the job done. Just an FYI, never had an issue with the 68RFE. Good luck with your hunt.

2014 Laramie limited crew cab 3500 SRW here, every option but Aisin. My payload is 4250 lbs. It varies for each truck slightly based on options like the aisin. but pretty much all of them are over 4,000 lbs.

You can look up any vin you like and get the exact payload at this site if you are in the market. Just click on look up my vehicle.

http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/towing_guide/

As it relates to ride, I heavily tested the 2500 vs 3500 and lets be honest this is a one ton truck. it rides ok. Put some weight in it and it rides like a Cadillac. The thing is a pulling beast. It pulls my 12,500 lb fiver like its not even there. I have had a ford f350 I think it rode better but it was an older model. This is my favorite truck ever. sounds cool too

Payload

I sold my 99 Dodge dually and I did look at Ford and Ram because I really like the look of the Fords but on the Srw Fords highest gvw was 11500 and Rams was 12300 1ton srw. I brought a short box crew cab Ram with 11700 gvw and a 3809 payload with the truck B&W hitch and me it weighs a little over 8400 lbs so I actually have a payload of 3300 lbs. The truck does have air suspension and Aisin trans. I don't know how much weight difference that makes. It is a Laramie.

I found a Chevy 3500 LTZ SRW at a nearby dealer. I looked at the yellow tag and the payload was 3729 pounds. Not bad. But I'm inching closer to a Ram with 4,000+ payload.

Making the 2nd trip to the dealer tomorrow, with the wife this time.
Dodge 3500 SRW, Laramie, CC, long bed, Cummins. Wife will be there to be SURE heated seats are ordered.
Probably get the Aisin transmission. Trade in the Ford and Corvette, unless I find buyers myself.
Thoughts and prayers appreciated.

If towing heavy or a lot, get the Aisin. I didnt order it with mine and wish I would have gotten it (for the more robust build and the higher output Cummins..mine has 800ft lbs...Aisin has 900 now I think?)

39k miles on mine with 5100 of those towing 15000-16500 Fuzion since April of this year, so it has been getting worked a bit. Good luck!

Thanks. Yes it's a bump to 900 ft lbs over the 800 with the other auto transmission. Horsepower gets a bump to 385 I think.

Well, we ordered it. 2016 Ram 3500, CC, 4x4, Cummins, long bed. Laramie with a few options: heated bucket seats, adjustable pedals, navigation, cargo camera, Aisin trans., 5th wheel prep., bed liner, led bed lights, remote start, aux switches, Pearl white.
Payload around 4330. We'll see what the yellow tag says.
About 6 week delivery.

Congrats! You will love it!

Also, the B&W RVK3600 works great with the 5th wheel prep package

That's exactly what I am pulling with (mine is 2015). Stepped up to it from a 2005 Cummins 2500 with G56 manual tranny... it was quite the change/upgrade... I doubt you will have any regrets at all. I too got the 5th wheel prep and purchased the B&W 2600 designed for it - got it off amazon for much cheaper than anyplace else and have to say that it is the best 5th wheel hitch I have ever used.

My 2014 SRW LB 4x4 with the in bed hitch prep shows 4,255# payload on the yellow door sticker. I towed 4 different 5th wheel trailer with the 2003 dually, the Cougar with the 2012 2500, and now the Montana HC with the 3500. Even with the 3.42 and without the Aisin, it tows great. Just need to lock out 6th when in the hills. We have towed just under 15,000 miles with a 3 month trip this past summer going out West ending in Washington State. Going in for the 30,000 mile service next week and the only problems so far were the TSB Flashes. We have the Curt 16K hitch in the pucks and it is the easiest hitch to use so far. I really love this truck.

Gearhead,
Congrats on your choice, we love our 2015 3500 SRWLB with the Aisin and hitch prep. Just remember when unloaded it will be a bit stiff but smooth when loaded, it's a 1 ton. We upgraded our 5TH wheel this year as well, looked at the Montana 293HC and a KZ Durango 315RKD. Wound up purchasing the 315RKD.
Will still pop in here at Keystone to keep in touch. Happy Camping....

All good news. Thanks.
I have one more pull with the Ford. Houston to Tulsa, leaving Jan 10 return Jan 17.
If I gain the expected 1,000# payload and GVWR I will have some "breathing room".
