New Member from WA with Tow Vehicle Question
Hello Everyone~
We are new to this forum and fairly new to 5th wheel pulling. We have a 2014 Raptor 332TS and thinking up upgrading to a 2015 Raptor 412TS. Only concern is if we have a big enough tow vehicle to handle the 412TS?
Our tow vehicle is a 2011 Ford F-350 6.7L CC LB 4x4 SRW (3.55 axle ratio). It pulls our 332TS wonderfully but not sure if we are going to be overweight for pulling with a 412TS.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Welcome, I have no idea about the towing capacity of a Ford, but I'll bet if you click on the Tow Vehicle sub-forum and ask your question someone will be able to help you.

Based on the info you provided, here's the weights/numbers you'll need to make a decision.
IMHO it's not a safe combination for several reasons... for one, the "empty" 412TS is only 600+ lbs under your truck's MAX possible tow rating.
Max 5th wheel towing 15,600 lbs
GCVWR 23,500 lbs
Max/possible payload 3,777-4,260 lbs, depending on 11,200 or 11,500 lbs GVWR
Page 27 http://www.ford.com/services/assets/...Duty&year=2011
2015 Raptor 412TS Specs
Gross Trailer Weight: 18,000 lbs
Dry/empty Shipping Weight: 14,965 lbs (standard build, no factory options: ie no generator or rear ele beds/sofa, etc)
Carrying Capacity: 3,035 lbs
Dry/empty Hitch: 3,550 lbs
Length 42' 5"

I would look at upgrading to a dually if you can afford it. By doing so you will stay within your rear axle GAWR, gain stability for the larger trailer, and drop to a 3.73 gear which will help pulling the passes.

Dually all the way! 3.73 or 4.10 will work for you nicely

Hello again after my last post on here. Since then I was deployed again in the military which gave us the opportunity to upgrade to a dually (2015 F-350 CC 4WD King Ranch DRW 4.30 gears and fully loaded). Now the wife wants to go bigger and better. She saw the 425TS now and is considering the move up from our 332TS. Can anyone tell me their experiences with this model or any 42+ footer models? Thanks.

I cannot speak to the Raptor but I will say you got enough truck now..Love those King Ranch versions. Could not find one when I got my Lariat as they were pushing 2014's out the door with heavy rebates so I had to go with what I could get..no regrets as I love my truck...Good luck with your search and thanks for your service!

You need to check the sticker in the door for how much weight the truck can have in the bed. As I understand it you can have a GVR of 10,000 lbs. I tried to find out on the ford website and they had nothing.
Consider how much weight you can put in the bed of the truck. Then you need to find out how much the trailer weighs . The manufacture will have a sticker on the trailer what will tell you the pin weight. Compair that number to the sticker in the door and see where you are. The door sticker includes truck full of fluids fuel and a 150 lb driver. You also have to consider how much the other things weigh as wife, dogs, beer , tool box. Sure it can pull it but its more about how much the truck is able to hold in the bed for safety. I have a F250 Lariat SRW and can only haul 2,330 in the truck. A DRW will be able to haul more but the sticker in the door is the number to go by.
