handicapped lifts

My wife has mobility issues (Multiple Sclerosis) she can still get around with the help of a walker but steps really give her a hard time without my help she cannot get in and out of the camper. Does anyone currently have some sort of lift that they use to help someone with mobility issue get in and out of a camper? I have done some research on the internet but most of these units are pretty pricey not that I want to skimp on my wife's safety just want to know if any one has had any experiences uses these lifts.

You would need a lift like that is installed in the side of a school bus. I worked on buses for 30 years. When a bus was wore out or wrecked it usually sold for next to nothing, and the lifts usually were good. The big problem would be cutting a big hole in the side of a camper. A better solution would be to buy a used bus with a lift and convert to a camper. Buses come in all sizes.

Tommy-Lift builds an electric lift gate designed for pick-up trucks. When in the stowed position, they do not look much bigger than a standard tailgate. Don't know how much these cost, but you might take a look. Of course, you would have to fabricate or have someone fabricate a way to mount the lift onto the side of your trailer. You might do a forum search. I believe Azlee56 was looking at ramps for her 5er some time ago. Good luck - hope you find something that works for you

Maybe look at something like this:

seems like you may be able to fabricate handrails and it looks somewhat portable.

Good luck

Here is a previous thread that talks about handicap lifts. There are a couple of members that said they had experience with them. Try to PM them for further info.

Maybe a new trailer, one of those toy haulers would enable her to easily get in and out, works with walker and even a motorized cart.
