I have stayed at the KOA in Petaluma (Sonoma County) and liked it. Clean and spacious.

Try Sonoma County Fairgrounds, Santa Rosa, CA. close to Sonoma Wineries.

Thumbs up Which Wine Country?

Watt
There's two wine countries in California now even though that will cause some debate. Being from the Central Coast we love the winery's around Atascadero and Paso Robles. There is a RV park called Wine Country RV Resort on Hwy46 East of Paso that has walking trails that lead to three or four winery's and tasting rooms all with in walking distance. The winery's will even deliver your purchases if you buy something right to your RV.
There are also a couple hundred small and large wineries with in the area, some have weekend bar-b-cues, apple pie and other activities, lots of fun.

We spent four nights at Casini Ranch near Duncan Mills in mid-June. It's a pretty big resort with good-sized sites. The Russian River runs along the rear of the campground. It's quiet, with a cute little mini market in case you forget anything.

The campground is about 30 minutes west of the 101 freeway, and another 30 minutes or so east of the coastal town of Bodega Bay. We stayed from Thurs thru Monday and did notice a lot more kids on the weekend.

Since it was a wine weekend for us, we appreciated the camp hosts monitoring the noise level during quiet time.

We live in Southern California and its a long drive for us, but well worth it. If you do choose Casini, turn left out of the campground and you'll drive through some of the prettiest coastal redwood groves in the area. Just be sure to take the drive without your 5'er or TT as the road gets pretty narrow,

Thanks for all the info and suggestions. We have enough ideas to begin planning the trip. Watt
