ok to put black water in Smart Tote?

I bought Smart Tote portable waste container with the intention of using it only for gray water. But I need to dump black water tank (no dumping station at last campground) and am considering using portable container for that. Is this a bad idea? Anyone else done this?

Use mine for that all the time. We go to many Corp of Engineer campgrounds down here in Georgia and they all lack sewer hook ups, so I use mine to empty a portion if we get full before the end of the trip. I store it with the thetford chemicals in it.

If you've got the hang of using it for grey water, then you should be able to do well using it for black. I use mine for grey-only because a) I don't want it to get all icky, b) I store it in my passthrough storage, and c) my grey dump experience isn't flawless. And it takes about a week for my black tank to fill.

So…if you think you can dump it without any spills, go for it.

Also use mine for both. As with ur hoses....use for black first...then gray. Use the gray to flush it some.

Never needed to use it for dumping the black tank but wouldn't hesitate to do so if needed... With just two of us the 30 gallon black tank last us a full seven days without a problem... But with DW sometimes taking three showers a day the grey has to be emptied a couple of time in a week... for this reason I rarely choose campsites without full hookups...

Thanks for the input. This is an unusual situation but I will make sure I flush portable tank thoroughly after dumping and put some chemicals in.
