Difficulty Getting Trailer Coupler to Secure to Hitch Head

I recently adjusted my Equalizer set-up. I added an additional washer in the hitch head. This is the 8th (and final) washer. I am finally pleased with the set-up as the trailer is level and I am only getting a half inch rise in the front of the tow vehicle. The problem that I am running into is that I am having a hard time getting the trailer coupler to lock onto the hitch head due to the tilt of the hitch head. I tried taking a washer out and raising the L-brackets one hole, but that did not work because there was too much of an upward slant on the bars. If I lower the hitch head one hole (which would require inverting the shank), I will not get the correct weight distribution. Any ideas and/or recommendations?

Picture is worth a thousand words?
Sounds like your ball is angled too far back....off plane of the trailer coupler?

Eight washers? That’s a lot! What trailer and truck are you using? I ask about the trailer because your EQ bars might be too small for the trailer weight. If you need eight washers, something doesn’t seem right. Have you been to a scale to weigh your setup? Maybe the trailer is too front-heavy.

Eight washers is a lot as stated above. I wonder if your equalizer bars are undersized?

I called Equalizer. They said that my 1200 lb bars are suffient for my TT. They recommended going to 6 washers and raising the L-brackets 1 hole. They said that setup should provide the same weight distribution as my current set up w/o such a tilt on the ball. We will see how that works!
