Air Bags

My tow vehichle is a 2010 Chev Silverado 1500 5.3, 6 sp, 3.42 rear end, HD towing package. Trailer is a 2011 Bullet 278 RLS. Trailer weight 5680 lbs (actual) with 820 lbs tongue weight (actual). Tows fine and sits level when hooked up. My issue is when traveling on a rough or semi-rough road I get a lot of bounce. Would air bags help? I appreciate, in advance, your opinions.

How much clearence is there from the bumpstops to the axle on the truck?
Tape a gram cracker to the bumpstop, and drive the truck till it bounces, check if it is crushed. If it is, airbags / AAL (Add A Leaf) can help.
How old are your shocks. GM shocks are usually on their last legs by the time you drive home from the dealer (I am on my third GM truck, ask me how I know). Stiffer shocks may/will help towing, but may/will make things worst empty.

I tow a 250RS, rated empty just short of 6,000, with an '08 Tundra double cab 4X4 and a Equalizer 10K hitch. I splurged on the AirLift 5000's with remote compressor control and LOVE IT! Without them it generally towed fine, but there were enough sections of highway we travel to in Iowa and Wisconsin where the pavement sections and joints cause "harmonic bucking" or porpoising that I frequently had to slow down to 50 MPH or less to get it to quit. And yes, the WD hitch IS correctly set-up.
They also allow me tow without the WD bars all set-up, which I do for short distances, and when I'm backing into tight or very uneven sites.
They DID, however, make the unloaded ride of the truck a bit more jittery unless I keep 15 to 20 lbs. air in them.
Regards, BGood
