Geno's Garage sells a quick drain kit with a drain tube for the engine that works great, BTW.

I'm under warranty and my dealer just charges $10 labor for an oil change. I'm stocked up on Shell Rotella T5 syn blend 15-40 to take to the dealer with me. I'm getting old and lazy!

Heck of a deal on labor just for getting that filter out...
I was at the dealer today and asked - Rotella change is $85. Full Synthetic is $120-ish.. Not horrible.

Good buddy and his wife have gone full time and they purchased a 2016 Ram 3500 srw. They love it. Has a nice ride and they got everything on it the factory could add. I cannot believe that truck is rated to tow 30,000#! Guy's name is Steve Martin and ,yes, he does play the banjo.

RotellaT3 15w-40 is what, $15 a gallon max?, x3 is $45 for the oil. Plus $20 for the oil filter is $65. Not bad....$20 for labor.
Rotella T6 5w-40 full synthetic probably averages $23, x3 is $69. Plus the same $20 filter is $89. They're getting to you a bit on that.
I have enough 15w-40 T5 for this year. Been stocking up when I catch it cheap at WalMart.com or Amazon. T6 may be in my future.
For $10 labor at my small town dealer I'm not rolling under it for an oil change. Actually they will be changing it in a couple weeks. Have about 3500 miles on it and heading out soon on the long pull to Indy500 and parts beyond. I don't want to have to do an oil change mid vacation. Did that once in the Ford.
I probably should do an oil analysis but it reminds me of work studying compressor oil analysis'.

RAM 2500 oil changes

Noted someone mentioning the cost of oil, and wanted to tell my story. In my gas 2500, the dealer 'gave' me 4 free oil changes. On a recent long trip with the RV, I needed to get an oil change, and went to the RAM dealer in Florida. When they looked up the serial number, they said, "good you get 4 free oil changes". Except when they did the oil change, the package given with the truck was only for standard oil, not the recommended synthetic oil. They gave me a number to call to talk with, RAM Customer Care, about getting the proper oil changes so while I was waiting, I called them. The lady said, no that was the right oil provided in the offer, Pennzoil Ultimate - so it didn't need synthetic oil. Actually Pennzoil Ultimate is synthetic, so the lady was wrong, but figure next time I go to the dealer for an oil change I ask them about the offer.

I'm getting the same way, but the dealer is an hour away. I buy my oil at Costco. Three gal of Delo for $30 on sale and it only takes 10 qts, plus, I have a two-post lift so lazy is a bad excuse for me, and a two hour drive on their schedule isn't in the cards. Might as well do a rotate and look for potential issues at the same time.

Yea, no complaint.. At $85 or so, I'm taking it in... I had just read about $140+ as typical service cost.

That is a very good price on a very good oil. I gotta stay with Shell or forfeit my pension. lol
My son works for Chevron and uses Rotella. Go figure.
We finally got a Costco within reasonable driving distance. When this flooding stops we plan to go join.

You have a loyal son.

Cummins makes a Fleetguard Stratapore oil filter with a better filtering media that Mopar might not have. Something to consider...

Yeah I have that filter sitting in my Amazon wish list. I should talk to my dealer to see if there is any warranty issue. Probably not .

Its a Cummins engine and a Cummins filter, so...

I buy mine at a Cummins repair facility when I'm in town. As fond as I am of voiding warranties, I seriously doubt oil and filter will void a warranty if either is made for the application. A Fram, however, would void MY maintenance policy.

If the oil filter location is your problem, geno's has a nice cap.
