Microwave replacement in 2018 Bullet 248RKS

I am seeking advice. If there is already a forum, please forgive and redirect.
I need to replace the Highpointe unit in my TT. I have scalded myself at least twice and I am completely out of patience with the miserable turntable antics. As in another forum, the glass turntable refuses to remain on the ridiculous plastic ring. I’m not interested in fixing or workaround.
Could I get advice on replacing the unsatisfactory unit with a combo micro/ventless fan? Or is it recommended to replace the gas oven unit with convection/microwave unit? I haven’t used either my gas oven or gas stovetop since I bought my AirFryer and induction single burner. I travel alone and don’t entertain vast crowds!

Have you tried using a piece of pool noodle going from the glass tray to the top of the microwave to keep it in place while you are on the road? You will have the same issue with any other m/w you put in. Try to remember that there is an earthquake in your trailer whenever you are moving. I hope this will help you.

As stated above, I don’t think you’ll find a MW oven that the tray doesn’t move around in transit. Easy fix- take it out, wrap it in a towel and put it in the oven.

They don’t come from the factory with the ring in and the tray on top, it’s in a cardboard box shoved in the oven. We take them out and assemble them, making sure the MW actually works.

If it is malfunctioning while in use and you've determined it's "out the door" pull it out and measure the dimensions of the cutout. Note how it is installed and start looking for something that will fit with mounting hardware. I shy away from the units not made for an RV because I want the specific mounting hardware and face trim to fit the unit. A very simple job - just get one that fits - but, they all have the little rotating plate although we've never had ours come off or scald us.

What I really want is to replace the offending unit with a microwave/range vent combo. This would bring the microwave down lower, more at arms length. I think I’ll need a cabinetmaker.

I have 2 of these Camco Vent insulators and I stuff one of them in the microwave for traveling.

The glass platter is still a PITA though.

We have a rear kitchen fifth wheel. The microwave is located above the range on the back wall of the trailer. That's the "roughest riding part" of the entire trailer. When we first bought the trailer, we found the microwave turntable/roller ring was always "bounced around inside the oven. I found that the easiest way to eliminate the bounce and potential damage is to either add something to cushion the bouncing or to remove the glass tray during towing. We've done both, but find that with our RV'ing style (lots of dry camping without hookups) we don't use the microwave very much. So, it's become a "breadbox" and is an excellent place to store a loaf of bread, burger buns, cookies and other snacks.

Since we started storing those things in the oven, we've not had any issues with "bouncing glass turntables"...

As for "scalding from cooking"... That's going to be an issue with any brand, it's not related to "RV microwaves" but to cooking moisture, glass trays and location of the oven (usually overhead: a foolish place to locate any oven, but where are most "S&B microwaves" ??? Overhead, above the stovetop, where hot pans are in use.... Kitchen design and public acceptance could change that in S&B;s and in RV's......
