Exclamation Furnace stopped working on new Sprinter.

We have a new (late 2013) Sprinter 320BHS, only used about 8 weekends. Woke up this morning to a cold camper, when I left the heat on auto 68 before bed last night. When I tried to turn it off and back on, the thermostat made a light click noise, but the fan didn't fire on.

It has dual 30lb tanks.
One tank is completely full, the other is empty.
The stovetop burners and oven still work.

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue or any idea as to what it might be? We're in our spot for the spring-with no reasonable way to get the camper back in for service and was hoping there might be an easy fix. As a side note-we switched the hot water heater from gas to electric yesterday for the first time since using the camper-thinking we'd save some money on propane. Could that have caused a problem?

Thanks in advance, I was searching out other threads but didn't find a solution yet.

It sounds like a propane flow problem. Turn both propane bottles off, disconnect the pigtails from the bottles, turn the regulator to the "full bottle" position, reconnect the pigtails and turn the full bottle on "SLOWLY" and try again. It should work after the air purges out of your propane lines.

Thanks John-we tried that a few times already and still nothing.

I even tried switching the hot water heater off of electric and onto gas-that lights right up. Same with the stove-no problems.

If it was working before but suddenly stopped, it's probably something "protective" that failed. Check the fuse panel, replace the fuse, even if it looks good, pull another one and put it in that position "just in case" if not that, possibly an internal malfunction, sail switch, fan control module on the control board? I missed that the fan would not come on in your first post, so it's not the propane if the fan won't start. It's electrical, "somewhere"

When the board failed on mine, the fan would come on along with propane as a normal start up, than cool off and shut down, about a 2-3 minute cycle. I am sure there could be different board failures beside the one I had, just telling you what mine did. The dealer had to remove the whole unit to check the board.

katiegreeniz, Howdy;

Had a similar problem last fall, it was in the control board.
Yours is still under warranty, get the dealer to fix it for you.

Thanks for the responses everyone!

To clarify:

When turning on the heat, the thermostat makes a slight clicking noise. The fan does NOT turn on, and no heat comes out of the floor grates.

When turning on the fan only-that works.

When turning on the AC only-that works too.

Our fuses all have indicator lights next to them, and they are all ok. I'm worried what else could possibly happen if I start pulling them out.

Our dealer can't send out the repair truck for at least 1 week and they recommended a subcontractor, who "might" be able to get here Thursday afternoon. I'm afraid of doing too much on my own-for fear it might affect our warrantee.

It was a balmy 40° this morning when I got up... Good thing I have New England blood, and the dog is happy because it means I let her sleep on the bed, under the blanket, lol.

Thanks again for the help, I'll keep everyone posted!

The indicator lights on the fuse panel are a "good convenience item" but do not always work properly. Many times the LED will not light, but the fuse is blown. It won't hurt anything to remove the fuse and replace it with a known good (or new) fuse. I'd urge you to pull that fuse and at least make sure that it's good. Don't trust the "LED indicators" they've been known to "lie" in the past. Good luck

Cool Furnace stopped working

I have a 315 Larado and something similar happened to me while I was at a park in Illinois last year. It went down to 30 degrees and the furnace was set to come on at 65 degrees. It came on but during the night it failed to come back on, so it was 30 degrees in the bedroom when we got up. I started checking and found that the battery voltage was low. The furnace uses a 'sail' switch to turn on the gas and start the heat process. The sail switch uses the 'wind' blown by the 12 volt blower in the furnace and that's what keeps the gas flow to the furnace. I charged the battery and the problem was solved. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help everyone!

I called and left a voicemail with our dealer on Sunday to get service scheduled right away. When nobody called me back by Monday afternoon I started hunting someone down-only to be told it would be at least a week or more. Finally, after a frustrated email to the head of the department, I got a call yesterday afternoon and they sent someone out this morning. Turns out that it was a Defective Fan Relay on the Control Board of the furnace. Apparently it is a $200 part, but I am covered under warrantee. It was a quick repair/replace and he was gone in less than 2 hours.

He was very thorough and stayed to answer a few of my questions and concerns that are going to be dealt with when bringing it in after our spring trip.

Thanks again!

Cougar furnace problems

We seem to have a similar problem on our 2014 Cougar RLSWE. On our first trip the furnace started fine, warmed up the trailer and shut down. It did not restart, however, when the temperature dropped. I turned the heat switch off for after a few minutes attempted to restart the heater-no luck. I repeated this process again and this time the furnace started working and continued to work for the rest of the trip.

On our second trip the same thing happened, only this time I had to go through the reset process four or five times before the furnace resumed working. After that, the furnace worked fine for the rest of the trip, just like on our first trip.

It seems like the problem is getting worse and I'm afraid the furnace might fail completely on our next trip.

I suspect the furnace control board. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

That was exactly what happened with us in the week leading up to it completely shutting down.
