So you said you did a pull behind for a couple of years. Did you enjoy it? Cause like many budget is going to dictate what direction I can go too!

My first bumper pull (not counting pop ups) was in 1985 and used them until 2020 (this trailer).

Here's a link to the trailer you mentioned;

http://www.crossroadsrv.com/products...plans/ss331bh/

Note that the trailer has a gvw of approx. 9800 lbs. You need to add the dry weight with the carrying capacity as noted in my previous email. That 9800 would equate to an approx. tongue weight of 1274 loaded out. That would leave you approx. 1000lbs. for family and truck stuff. Pretty tight. And don't forget trying to keep a safety cushion of a minimum of 10% which will strap you pretty good with a little one weight wise. Gotta look at the gvw's; those bottom, dry weights are useless.

Ah ok I see now. You add the dry weight with what you can load on the trailer giving you the gvw! Correct??

Sourdough, do you add the weight of a anti-sway hitch too?? Does that factor in if towing a pull behind?

Yes you do. It will be "plugged" right into the rear of the truck and deduct from that payload. With a larger trailer I would recommend an Equalizer 4 point and about 125lbs. Mine stood by me well for years and now "stands", alone, in the barn.

On my 4th 5er My Equalizer 4 Point sits in my garage. They have been making them for over 75 years so know what they are doing.

Op, don't bother with anything less than about 3400 payload if considering a 5er now or in the future. Been there and got the T-shirt.

That 3/4 ton you posted with 2330 payload must be a diesel, right? 3/4 ton gassers has payloads around 3,000 lbs and up. A 3/4 ton gasser would handle either of the trailers you posted just fine. If you are dead set on a diesel you are gonna need to go 1 ton to be able to handle a 10k 5er.
