Range Hood Vent Locking Clips

Hello, on our camping trip last weekend I went to lock the flaps down on the range hood, and one of the clips broke off. Has anyone found a replacement clip or something similar that will work? It looks like I have to buy the whole vent to get the clips.
Thanks for any info,
Joe

We've been fulltime for well over 1 1/2 years now, and don't bother with the locking tabs. We did at first, but getting the ladder out each time was a pain. Besides, when the flap ever breaks, it will finally be an excuse to replace the yellow plastic vent with a white one that will match the white exterior of our trailer.

It should stay closed well enough with only one clip that it won't "rattle" when the wind blows. I'd wait and see if it really needs replacement. As stated, in a year or two, the plastic will be yellow and you'll want an excuse to replace it then.

Keep an eye on the remaining clip. Both of ours broke and strong wind managed to pull the vent open and it wedged in the open position. Over a few months in the spring when we didn't use the trailer, some small birds built a nest in there.

JoePK, Howdy;

Mine rattles even with both clips. I don't stove cook or use the oven
much either ... bachelor + microwave = ...
use some blue painter's type or a beige color ... it will also keep unwanted
breezes outside where they belong as well as keep the vent from humming.

Storm Window Panel Clips available at hardware or home stores should be a good replacement and cheap also. You might want to look for them while you still have one to compare them to.

Thanks Hank, I forgot about those type of clips. I used them on my old Trailmanor. Will go check them out!

I'm not sure how you will attach them since some of the originals are riveted on. Worst case you may have to replace the vent with a shiny new one.

My hillbilly fix on last trailer after the taps broke was to grab a piece of that gray foam pipe insulation, cut to fit up into the vent and held in place by clothes line wooden pins. The pins were attached to the plastic vent only, the foam did not slide out past them. I used it that way about 5 years. To use the vent just removed the pins, the foam falls out or pull it out.
