Winter Damage

Now that people will be getting their camper out of storage.

I have heard from some dealers and friends that due to the extreme cold in the mid-west this year, some vinyl floors have split, pipes breaking, even with anti-freeze in them.

We ordered a new Passport Elite 33BH that has not come in yet but I just took our Jayco out of storage that we are selling. All looks fine but have not tried the water system yet. Maybe this weekend. Just a heads up.

Good luck, still too cold to do anything yet. Hoping the next week or two the snow will melt and we can start checking things out.

Live in the Cincinnati area and uncovered mine last week. I do not see any problems as of yet. Bought it new in October last year and parked it and covered it.

My 1 year warranty runs out next week so I uncovered mine earlier this week so I could inspect the linoleum floor for separation damage from extreme Temps this winter (was worried because of all the reports I read). Fortunately the flooring was fine as was the rest of the interior. Will have to wait to test the water system. We are experiencing a blizzard and state of emergency today here in Western NY with about 15" snow and 50mph winds. Guess we won't be camping anytime soon.

I didn't even bother with mine this year, traded it in last week on our new Alpine, have no idea if there are any problems, pulled it out of storage and straight to the dealership. I had sent the dealer pics before hand and that's how we worked the deal. The dealership treated me well, so I hope everything is good, but if not........

that is what we did about 3 weeks ago for ours too. Pulled it out of storage and brought to the house. Cleaned all the stuff out that we left in it over the winter and hauled it to the dealer. You have me beat though as they didn't require any photos.....I did ask just incase.

The cold weather broke my fender skirts, so yesterday I checked out the interior since it was nice. The plastic trim on the skylight over the tub cracked. Hopefully warranty will cover that also. Warranty runs out this week.

If a door has enough snow/ice on it to be frozen shut.... I consider it doing me a favor. I have no business RVing in that weather anyway.

checked my Fuzion 301 out this week
everything looked good except
the anti freeze froze in the toilet
the water lines looked OK

So I'm thinking cold air from the holding tank had something to do with it

RV antifreeze will freeze at about 30-40 below. It will turn to slush about 20 below. The good feature and the reason to use it is because as it freezes, it does not expand. Water when it freezes expands and that's what causes broken pipes, cracked toilets, etc, RV antifreeze doesn't expand and if all (or most) of the water has been displaced by antifreeze, your toilet should be OK. It's a bit "un-nerving" to open the toilet and see a block of pink ice, but it does happen. I'd think the only potential "issue" with the toilet is if there was only a small amount of antifreeze added after the last flush and if there was water in the toilet rim that continued to leak into the bowl diluting the antifreeze too much, but if the toilet was purged with antifreeze to clear the lines and the lines are OK, then the rim should only be leaking antifreeze and all should be good to go come spring.
