.

Thank you, that makes sense. I have TK's on my TT and they will be going the way of the Dodo in the Spring. I was looking at the Goodyear Endurance at a E rating with load of 2800. These Hercules look better at a F rating with a load of 3200.

At least on paper.

Doing a dealer search is a adventure, gives you such a narrow area to look at.

Installed a set on TH couple years ago, been happy with performance so far. I would purchase again unless a better deal on an equivalent tire showed up.

Yes dealers can be a problem. I wanted the tires switched before I left dealer lot so I don’t have to worry. Many tire options out there. I wanted a good heavy duty tire for the least price. Hopefully the Hercs will provide.

I recommend you change those TK’s asap. They’re ticking time bombs and have the potential to do much damage. Check them carefully before traveling for bulges, cracks, or any signs of damage.

I load the tire pressure according to chart on trailer, not the tire max ( went with 14 ply). With that stiff of tire no need to go to max cap.
PS, snooped your tag line , 17 ft Garage?..What?

The ply rating is a reference. The official load rating for all ST and LT tires is the load range letter system.

6 Ply Rating = LR C 50 PSI
8 Ply Rating = LR D 65 PSI
10 Ply Rating = LR E 80 PSI
12 Ply Rating = LR F 95 PSI
14 Ply Rating = LR G 110 PSI
16 Ply Rating = LR H 125 PSI
18 Ply Rating = LR J 125 PSI

They put the ply rating on tire sidewalls because the DOD wants it there. They also put the actual number of plys there.

Each Load Range has a standardized inflation for the tires maximum load capacity, see above.

Here are some sidewall pictures.

This is from Hercules web site. If I missed something, well, I guess I’m still missing your point.

Sent you a PM.

Looking at that chart I seen that the 235/80/R16 has a few pounds less capacity than Sailuns of same size, they are #4080 for that size. Not much diff though but because Sailuns have a great rep, if you have the time to get them vs the Hercules I would if it were me. Again, just my opinion.

I don't know. Why do you ask. I was just posting relevant info.

The standardized inflation pressures for load range tires are written and approved by the Tire & Rim Association (TRA). Any tire manufacturer that differs from the norm MUST provide all retailers with a load inflation chart for their particular tire (s) that differ from all others.

I would ask any manufacturer with documented differences from the norm if they may have made a typo error in their documents, or, check the info on the tire sidewall.

Before you buy Hercules because you do not like Power Kings. See who made both tire names, I did. They are made by the same Chinese co just in a different city. Is one better then the other?
I found this information by one of CWs post listing tire co names by the code on the side wall.
I had power kings on the TT, I replaced my boat trailer tires, all 5 with Hercules since they were reasonably priced.
My spare TT tire and spare boat tire sit side by side in the garage. Although they are different sizes the tread is 100% the same pattern. So, I checked and found out why they are the same, because it is the same Company.

Im not going to doubt you about those facts. But, Hercules, and many other small name brands outsource their manufacturing to other companies. Some foreign and some domestic. I haven’t laid eyes on the Hercs yet so can’t attest to their manufacture country. I don’t believe however hat this tire is made alongside anything TK makes.
Does this look like your treads?

From other sources I’ve read from, the H901’s are possibly manufactured by Cooper Tire here in the US.

Bottom line is, every tire company has had some bad tires in the past. EVERY company. Some are notoriously bad from the start. Trailer King, Power Kings and the like have terrible reputations.

My hope from this thread was to get real world experiences from actual owners of the Hercules, good or bad. Haven’t gotten many, but all were positive. Other reviews elsewhere were quite positive also for THIS Hercules model.
