What's the part number?

I would obtain the aftermarket part number from a chain of auto stores who have stores along your planned route...and take the trip. Should a failure occur during the trip, get it repaired. Chances are you won't have an issue should you go, but not going will be an issue.

I believe your dealer should install the temporary fix as part of the recall, and it shouldn't cost you anything. You could at least ask, even if you have to go through Chrysler. In my opinion, breaking down is miserable, even with roadside assistance. On our way to our present location we ran into road debris on I-80 that had been missed following the chain-reaction wrecks a few days earlier near Cheyenne, WY. We slashed a brand new tire on our tow vehicle. It was a Saturday, we were in the middle of nowhere with no cell coverage, near a very tiny town. We changed the tire with semis screaming by us on a two-lane interstate detour, went into the tiny town, no one to repair the tire, on to the next tiny town where we finally had success. A long and painful ordeal. Roadside assistance wouldn't have helped at all! It just isn't that easy, especially in the west where everything is few and far between.

There isn't really a temp fix, it's just replacing the current part with the same part until new spec parts are available in 6 months. The part that is currently in the Jeep may last forever and a replacement part could fail tomorrow. My opinion, go and deal with it if it fails. As for your tire story, if you were on I-80, those are all major cities for WY not small towns, you're from there, you know better Lived in Cheyenne for 4 years, WY can be a fun place to get repairs done, but you're talking about a state with more antelope than people.

Yeh. We've lived in Wyoming for 35 years, and I'm talking about between Wamsutter and Rawlins!
