Winter needs to end

With 4' snow drifts all around and I can't get into my trailer I decided to at least check on my boat in the shed. I started to shovel the snow from the door and found about 6"+ of ice blocking me from even opening the door A friend of mine sent me this pic... I hope it works..

Nice pic! I'll see if I can find me a voodoo snowman to skewer... muahahaha

Here in MN, we're supposed to be in the 40s by this weekend. Finally will start melting some of this snow.

Here they say it will be 35 on Friday with a good chance of 6-8" of new snow. Then next week the high will be back in the mid 20's with overnight lows in the single digits. Right now it's 5, that's the warmest it's been in over a week. YIPPEEEEE

As for frozen doors, The DW and I are being held "hostage" by a sliding door on the pole barn that's keeping us from escaping to south Texas. If it ever gets above 20, hopefully the "ice melt" will work. Until then......

Is there room for one more knife in that snowman? I want to help

Can't blame you at all for wanting winter to end. You guys up North have had a terrible winter. It even hit us down here in Southern AZ the other day: we got some rain and 65* weather. Finally had to change my shorts for some jeans for a day. Seriously, having lived in eastern OR for 30 years where we got a lot of snow and cold temps, I know what you are living through.

May the warm weather visit your homes soon!

My wife and I decided to go camping this past weekend. Despite the crazy temperature swings in the past weeks here in Austin, last Friday and Saturday we had temperatures in the upper 70's and lower 80's. So we hooked up, de-winterized the TT and went for it.

Not too far from home is Cedar Breaks Park on Lake Georgetown. A small and quiet park run by the US Army Core of Engineers. Most sites are well shaded with oaks or cedars. Not a whole lot of amenities but a great "shake down" site for us. Maybe ~70% full over the weekend. There were many weekend campers and a few snowbirds. Some, like us, just trying to sneak in a couple extra days of camping this year.

Below is a view of the lake from our campsite on Friday evening. Saturday was a lazy and gorgeous day in the mid 70's.

Sunday morning a polar express came blowing in. The temperatures during breakfast were already in the 50's and dropping. In the 40's while hooking up around noon, and raining as I was outside at the dump station.

It was in the upper 30's by the time I got back and winterized the TT again. A good thing too, as the overnight temperatures dropped down to ~23*F.

All in all, it was worth it!

The temperatures are rising again. We're thinking about sneaking out again!

I'm having the same problem. It was sunny yesterday so I pointed a space heater (kerosene) at the inside of the door, dug out the outside and liberally dosed with salt, then got out my propane "flame thrower" ($19.99 at Harbor Freight) and went to work on it. In an hour I had the door free, and was able to open it 18" - today is warmer, so I hope to liberate the truck by early afternoon!

Lost, Give a few of those knives a twist or two. We are supposed to be in the 50s this weekend and I hope this is the end of winter. I can't wait to see that little rascal reduced to a puddle on the deck.

While I am excited for camping season to start again I for one wish we in the Pacific Northwest would get what most of you have. Our winter this year was bad (as in hardly any snow) and my favorite hobby needs the snow. Only put 200 miles on it and usually have about 800 by now.

Maybe next year.

After the last storm you could have followed it 3000 miles east and never ran out of snow until you hit salt water. Probably would have made it back home too. It's just about gone here and I sure hope March does go out like a lamb.

Yeap here it comes again, travel south about 2.5 hours and you can cut the accumulation in half. Sorry best I can do
Oh well did get a chance to at least look inside the Raptor.

Yes it can end, but its rolling around again before the weekend gets here.
My area of NC got around 1/2 to 3/4 inch of ice on Friday(3-7) and sleet around 2 inches on the ground. 15-20 miles north from my house got 4-6 inches of snow???
Trees down all over our county and the next one. Schools just went back today due to the power outages.
I have seen utility crews from all over working this storm. Saw a few crews from New York yesterday, most crews seem to be from south of NC.
So glad to have power back on.. You have got to appreciate the electricity when you have it, but I appreciate those work crews more when they returned it to my house.
Come on spring and my hay fever, then I know the weather is changing.

Living about 30 minutes north of Syracuse, NY I feel your pain of wanting winter to end , we were at 41 degrees yesterday and it felt like summer. Today we have recieved almost 10" of snow already (5 pm) more coming all night and no end in sight! total snow accumulation for this winter is just over 15 feet!! when the heck is camping season going to start!

Brewerton area? Once stayed at a motel on RT 11 in Mexico NY, we were racing at Brewerton Speedway. There was a telephone pole in the parking lot marked to 10 foot for snow. I thought it was for drifting then was told by the owner it was for snowfall. Have to love living down wind of Lake Ontario, the Great Lake that stays the warmest and never completely freezes.
