Thanks for the suggestion - love clam chowder. Miss the great chowder from 'Pierside' in Pismo. We also want to try "Norma's" in Seaside. Supposed to be good seafood, large portions and low priced.

I think Chowder Bowl in Newport is so much better than Mo's. I was just there this past weekend and it didn't disappoint.

Made the trip from the California's Central Valley to our DS's house in Seabeck, WA without any problems. The weather up here is great. Need to do some research though. The sky here is a beautiful shade of BLUE! Everyone knows that the sky is supposed to be a brownish grey.
BTW - counted 48 TT/5ers along the way. Thirty six were Keystones.

Just completed our 15 day trip to our DS's house near Bremerton, WA. Traveled back via 101 along the Oregon coast. Stayed for 3 nights at South Beach SP and then 2 nights at Bullard's Beach SP. South Beach is quite large, with water & electric. Several hiking trails and paved bicycle trails. Interesting informative boardwalk that tells the history of how the Jetties were built to protect the mouth of the river and the resultant increase in beach area almost doubling the size of the park's land. Even had markings on the paved trail showing where the shore line ended at several different points in time. Relatively quiet, given the number of kids on bikes. Bullard's Beach, while smaller, is the cleanest, best maintained Oregon Park we have seen. When we arrived, the camp hosts/volunteers had raked and groomed the site. There were no cigarette butts, unburned chunks of firewood or any of the usual trash one finds. There was a significant lack of grass, but that was due to the lack of rain. The sites are nicely spaced. The beach at South Beach was wide, clean and free of kelp and driftwood. The beach at Bullard's was also free of kelp, but lots of driftwood. Can't say enough good about Oregon's State parks.
BTW, tried the Chowder at Mo's in Newport and thought it was really good.
Also found some great Fish & Chips at the "Fish & Chips" take out place on the pier in old town Bandon. Fresh local rock fish. The servings so large we could have shared one basket - made for a great lunch the next day.

Hoping to be on the Oregon and Washington coast next year and then up to Alaska. Your posting makes me anxious to get there. Can't wait.

We've been traveling up the Oregon coast for three weeks. We've hit quite a few chowder places: Chart Room in Crescent City, CA has great chowder; The Chowder House in Point Arena, OR - yum; Edgewaters in Bandon, OR really good; Mo's in Lincoln City has bacon, so we nixed that one. We're now in Astoria and have been given a couple of suggestions by the locals that we'll have to try. This Pacific NW coast is humid and semi-sunny, but it's so beautiful and the beaches in Oregon can't be beat for their beauty.

Shur-nuff...you can't beat the Oregon Coast for beauty! As far as Mo's goes, it has gone down hill fast! Two months ago my BIL ordered a "cup" of chowder with his meal and it was not much bigger than an "espresso" cup! The bread did not have that homemade flavor either!
