haloview camera issues

installing rd7 3 camera package on a 2021 262bh

step one- installed rear camera and tx-box
video shows up awesomely and works great

step two
installed the two side cameras (with the marker lights)

when went to set up monitor to have all three cameras on the same screen- found that the rear camera was not sending signal-

went to look at tx/box ------ no power

I verified and redid the power and signal connectors to the rear camera

but no dice?

what should i do next
power everything up and pair the tx-box again?

thanks in advance for any assistance and guidance

Often the camera is powered by the clearance lights. Are you connected to your truck with lights on?

Did you check the polarity of the two wires connected to the rear camera? Often times Keystone connects the wires with incorrect polarity. Following the colorcode for the wires may mean + is - and - is +.....

yes-
I am using the furrion to haloview adapter-
at one point it was working- and awesomely at that
it stopped working after installing the side cameras

I have no power to the rear camera or tx box (no blue lights on the tx box)

when getting home from work- will check power at the rear with volt meter , and if i get power---will try to pair the tx box and camera

By tx/box are you talking about a repeater? In the bolded section above, are you talking about the same thing or 2 different things? My next question, what changed between installing the rear camera and then installing the side cameras? Do the side cameras work? Have you confirmed that the clearence lights were on? On many vehichles if the lights are left on while the truck is not running a timer will shut off the lights to prevent battery discharge.

sorry about that -
i was referring to the repeater box that runs on the top of the trailer
nothing changed between the installation of the side cameras and the rear camera

the side cameras ware working awesomely-
i just have no power to the rear camera or the repeater- i am guessing that if it was a power from the truck tot he running lights - if the side cameras work then power is there - if there was no power- then nothing would work

Just "thinking outside the box" on this:

I'd first suspect that the trailer wiring WAS providing proper voltage to the rear camera BEFORE the side cameras were powered on.

THEN, once you installed and powered up the side cameras, the "available power on the trailer wiring" was reduced "down the line"... That may be a voltage drop of available voltage based on side camera power consumption, or you could have inadvertently disconnected or shorted the wiring behind one of the side running lights when you installed the side cameras.... If it were me, I'd uninstall both side cameras, check the rear camera operation, install ONE side camera, reconfirm rear camera operation, then install the OTHER side camera... You may have a bad side camera, you may have a pinched wire or you may have a running light that's causing the problem...

I'd start by measuring the voltage at the rear camera, then "reverse engineer" the installation by redoing the side camera installation, just to make sure everything is properly connected and you didn't accidentally "pinch a wire" in the process.....

ok-
that makes sense-
one question- if I did short a wire -- would the camera not work then-
as the situation sits right now- both side cameras are not working

also- are there any fuses that could be causing this?

thanks

Some trailer wiring does have a "in line fuse" buried in the wiring harness within the trailer's running light wiring. Other trailer wiring depends on the fuse in the tow vehicle fuse block (usually under the hood) to protect the running light wiring harness in the trailer. How your specific trailer was wired is "anybody's best guess"...

For me, if, when connected to the tow vehicle, the running lights are all lit, then I'd disregard a fuse problem. That's assuming that YOUR rear camera is getting power from the center rear running light. I say that because some trailers are wired with that camera socket wired to a "always on 12 volt circuit that is not dependent on the running light system" and some camera sockets are wired to a "dedicated, fused circuit that is powered directly from the trailer power center fuse block"...

If your camera gets power from the running light AND the running lights are lit, then it's not a fuse issue.....

update-
turns out that when I connected the adapted on the rear camera and stuffed in back into the cavity- i cut the wire on a sharp edge inside and there were only 2-3 strands of wire still connected-
once the the tech say that - it was a 30 second fix and we are all good to go

Andrew hasn't logged onto the site since 1/24 so hopefully will see your question and answer but I wouldn't count on it.

I put one in last spring. I like it a lot. I just wish I had gotten a cam for the pickup to look at the hitch.

sorry about that

yeah - I have been off the grid
I absolutely love the cameras and the setup that I have-
rearmost one - i like having it but upon using them I probably could have done with it-
the side ones have been the most helpful in travel and backing up
