Duramax Mishimoto trans cooler works on 8.1/Allison trucks!!
Got it installed today! Very minor modification and here’s my write up to Mishimoto since they said they couldn’t confirm since they had never tested it on a big block:
For the purpose of the trans cooler, Only difference between the gas big block trucks and the duramax is the location of the power steering cooler. One mounting bolt was in the way. Took it out, cut off about a 2 inch piece of bracket, and used a self tapping screw to re-secure on the top of the A-frame bracket. If I had more time, I could have unbolted and unhooked the power steering cooler to allow for more room and probably would’ve allowed me to re-tap and re-use the stock bolt on top, but the self tapping screw solution works and was quicker.
