Very good. No damage to the fiberglass, trim pieces, plastic covers, or painted surfaces. The mineral spirits evaporates very quickly. The final step used denatured alcohol to remove any remnants of wax, dirt, and oil. Harbor Freight's plastic trim removal tools came in very handy, assisting my finger nails. Also, a package of plastic razor blades helped too.

Trailer and Backup Wireless Camera Installed

After 4 years of hesitation, I finally was able to tackle the RV camera installation. Instead of drilling new holes below the rear center marker light, I decided to just remove the middle fixture and utilize the existing holes for the camera bracket. 12VDC at the light made it convenient to tap into. A good bead of sealant around the bracket and wire entry point will keep it all waterproof.

I also added an additional wireless camera above the TV's license plate to monitor the hitch and trailer tongue during travels. First test was last weekend on a trip to Oscoda, MI where it performed great.

Thanks for the reply. Plastic razor blades are on my list to order from Amazon!

Finally: Sun Energy

As warm as it was today (87 degrees) in southwest Michigan, I didn't let that deter me from installing some "icing on the cake" solar on the roof of my Bullet 308BHS. Sourced from positive reviews online, I went with two 100 watt polycrystalline panels by Rich Solar. I swapped out power inverters as well. I installed a Giandel 2200 Watt pure sine wave inverter with an onboard 20 amp PWM solar charge controller. I did purchase a Renogy Wanderer 30 amp PWM with the intent of installing it as a separate component. But with the new inverter/solar charge controller combo, I leaves me with more space in the passthrough and I don't have to run another set of cables to the battery bank.

I compared both the Renogy and Giandel output from the panels at full sun overhead. The Victron 712 indicated the exact same amps, about 10.5. The Renogy controller is being returned.

I also discounted the need for a MPPT solar controller as the panels are the same watts (PWM technology will ramp down all panels to the lowest panel rating whereas an MPPT can better manage the differences). With such a small solar array, I didn't want to invest too much money into the system.

At just under $240 for all the panels, connectors, cables, brackets, and Dicor, it was a relatively affordable upgrade. The only nail biter was getting the fasteners into metal rafters. Out of 16 fasteners, I missed only once. The other option was to use well nuts in my 1/4 inch roof decking. I think I made the right decision.

Nice work. What product is that holding down the red and black cables going to the roof gland? It look like tan Eternabond but I've never seen that before.

Mike

Yes, just tan colored Eternabond 4" tape. I've seen it on a few DIY youtube solar installs and it looks like it worked well for this application. I already had a big roll of it on hand. I just zip tied the wires together, cleaned the TPO membrane and applied the tape. No need to drill additional holes for retention cable clips.

Can you change the the bolts one at a time to wet bolts so you don’t have to disassemble the shackles? Thanks

Every wet bolt kit that I've worked with (or seen) comes with thicker shackles, so you'll have to remove the shackles to access the spring "eye" to push out the old bushing, press in the new bushing, then hang it with the thicker shackles and insert the "wet bolt"...

I'd recommend the heavy shackles kit, toss the thin OEM, that come with the bolts already pressed into one side. With a couple jacks it takes about an hour per side.

A porcelain thrown...

5 years in this coach and I finally changed out the Dometic 300 toilet. First mod of the 2021 season. Don't know why i waited so long. Our bottoms will never feel better.

The new plumbing hardware has jumped up into my "top 10" must do/must have list.
