2014 Laredo 24MK TT. A/C on generator power.

We purchased this used 4 years ago, and love it.
Last week for the first time we camped in a site without electricity.
We purchased a 2200 watt Honda invertor generator, easy start, quiet, lightweight, runs like a charm.
The A/C unit is a Coleman 3500 BTU, and the manual stated it draws 1685 running watts (if my memory serves), but nothing about starting watts.
Just to see, we turned the A/C unit on while generator ran, not in ECO mode. The A/C started and ran fine, fan ran, cooled our little camper down just fine. Ran it about 10 minutes, no fuses
blown in camper or generator.
Is this too good to be true? Could I damage the A/C unit or the Honda?

When your plugged into the gen, what else is being powered by the gen? Fridge, WH? converter? 1600W running only leaves you 600W of the gens PEAK POWER.

If the AC shut off, it may come back on after about a 30 minute rest. IIRC it takes about 2300W to START the AC. You may get lucky or you may be looking at replacing the AC.

I shut off everything but the invertor, didn't think about shutting it off.
So you are saying we could indeed damage the A/C unit?

Inverter or CONverter? If you dont have a residential style fridge then you have a CONverter. They make 12VDC from 110VAC. INverter makes 110VAC from 12VDC.

You might have gotten lucky. I cant say
