Covid 19 Bargains?- not virus related

As everyone is hunkered down due to various restrictions on the virus it has caused lots of aggravation, distress and inconvenience. BUT - it is seems to be creating some situations that may benefit those of us out and about somewhere that can take advantage of whatever it may be, and one of those popped out of nowhere today...

My son's ex wife lives in LA. Our extended family lives there as well. DS called today and due to the circumstances surrounding the virus, restaurant closures etc. he found a deal that anyone in the area may be able to utilize. I won't bore you with the background details but seems with all the restaurant closures the crawfish farmers are having a tough time. Tons (literally) of crawfish and nowhere to sell them. Bottom line was $.40 per lb. for bulk crawfish - usually (last year) $2 lb. Ponds were brimming as I was told. Folks from Dallas about to make those trips to "haul 'em in".

If you're anywhere near the area might be a good time to catch a great deal an help out some folks at the same time. Just thought I'd throw that out there for any "mudbug" fans.

At first I thought Los Angeles, then after seeing the crawfish and proximity to Dallas, figured out it was Louisiana.

They could advertise and provide overnight FedExp shipping live or boiled crawfish like these crayfish suppliers and capture a significantly higher price:

You can buy a ton of chicken wings for the prices they're asking.

Anybody with a bidet who "claims culture matters" and won't "suck da head on mudbugs" ????? (not pointing fingers at you specifically but making a general statement)

Yeah, this thread has gone astray, but from a "linear point of view" it is still "directly discussing the OP's "mudbug comments"....

We don't see anything like 40 cents/lb for chicken wings; more like 2.40 and, a chicken wing and a "mudbug" ain't kinda sorta the same thing.

I always find it interesting how these threads sort of "meander"; who would have thought a conversation about "mudbugs" could be so....interesting.

LOL For the record, I don't own a bidet, I use the wet wipe method.

$0.40 a lb is in Louisiana, the prices from those two links above were just a skush over that $0.40.

They might not be the same, but, the similarities in eating them are. Both eat the spicy meat hunched over a table, throw away the skeletal remains, drink copious amount of beer.

OMG...too damn funny!

On a more serious note, I did hear cattle milk farms are dumping milk to keep prices stable. Don't have to suck a head for that, and someone else pulls the teats. Might get a deal visiting your local dairy Farmer.

I was hooked on this thread as soon as I read "Both eat the spicy meat hunched over a table, throw away the skeletal remains, drink copious amount of beer."
No self-respecting honorary coon-*** would eat crawfish without suckin' da head. Why oh why am I not ordering the crawfish at Zydeco's on Belle Chasse Highway?
And let's not leave out the Anchor Bar in Buffalo. Serious hot wings are right up there also.
Do y'all start these threads just to torture us?

I used them as bait for nice channel catfish. I’ll second the chicken.

This is just what I needed for a pick me up today! This is too funny! Now I'm hankering for some mudbugs, boudin, gumbo, rice, crawfish Étouffée. Miss the group gatherings most.
