My cables require silicone based dry lube. Clean with iso-alcohol and saturate the cable with the dry lube. I use a rag to isolate the cable while applying, preventing spraying everything else. I believe mine is 3-in-1 slideout lube.

As far as I know no lubricant is required.

This does raise a good question. I've never used a lube but it be a good thing. Are there any recommendations from the manufacturer?

I just did a google search for rv cable slide maintenance and found one from keystone rv and as far as the cables and chains go just do a visual inspection looking for frayed cables and leave it alone
There was a separate video for seal maintenance
So I guess I just answered my own question and saved me some unnecessary time outside today in the Alabama heat

I do believe it was a video that recommended the cleaning and application of corrosion resistant silicone lube. I only perform that process once a year, along with the inspection.

I’m going to do the inspection today and probably spray some 3 in 1 lube on a rag and wipe down the cables

Lube can attract dirt and the cables are stainless steal I believe. Just inspect for fraying and make sure they are straight. I occasionally clean them if they get dirty but thats it.

I just wiped them off with WD 40 sprayed on a rag. I did find that almost all of the grommets that prevent the end of the cable from slipping out of the slotted bracket were dry rotted and falling apart. We’re leaving Monday for a 6-8 week trip north. So I spent this afternoon cutting pieces of 3/8 fuel hose into 1/2 sections and squeezing them into the slots on the cable brackets
