390DS ladder for loft

The ladder to the loft is horribly designed, it is in a weird angle and the steps are round. I had my dealer ordered the metal ladder from a 2023 and newer but Keystone it wont fit. I contacted Keystone myself and came up with the same answer that it wont fit. Dont understand as everything looks the same but who knows. Has anyone made a modification so it is more safer to use? For now i have installed foam pipe insulators so it does not nut to step on the ladder but it looks ugly.

I was literally about to attempt that same fix myself. The newer ladder looks much better. I don’t understand why it wouldn’t fit. Did you ever find a better ladder from a third party, or come up with a better solution??

You may want to look at Stromberg-Carlson. I have had a few bunkhouse campers and their ladders are very good. There might be some differences between the loft and a bunk ladder (loft ladder being taller), but it is worth looking into.

The ladder in our Cougar is a Stromberg-Carlson from the factory, and the loft ladder in our prior Fuzion 367 was also a Stromberg Carlson, as was the bunk ladder in our Passport. The only real difference is that all of mine were removable ladders, not fixed in place.

I gave up, kids are bigger now and don't go as often, they just make it work. Realistically may keep this rig another season then sell, life changes come and you adapt. All ladders used in this style camper uses the same type of medal ladder. Maybe order and try for yourself to see if it fits
