Slide not retracting

2019 cougar 22rbd slide will not retract. Extends with incomand but does nothing when applying the income and touchscreen.

Have you tried to reset the InCommand? If so and it still doesn’t work, I would locate the BCM (usually in the front compartment behind a wall). It will have relays and you can swap a known good one in place of the suspected failed one and if it works you’ll need to replace the relay.

I was having the same problem with our 2022 Cougar. Find the two relays for the slide, one for in one for out and switch them around, if the slide now goes in try putting it back out, if it was the relay it wont go back out. I have had to switch 2 relays so far.
Good luck

Slideout

Similar problem, have swapped relays and problem follows. I have to open access panel and wrench the Entertainment slide about halfway in to get the motor to start, I can here the relay changing state..
Wondering if there is a torque problem on the stow side, an hydraulic fluid problem, under-volt problem ( extends ok, less torque/volt/ amps…retracts no, more torque/volt/amperage.
I see vehicle/ RV / Boat Batteries that barely last 2-3 years and only 10th of a volt deficit and they will not work. My 29RKS Cougar stays on Shore Power at my home…
Camping World, Suggest, rip-out of the under pinning, replacement of motor @ $1700,00 + $700.00 labor..
You wonder why we have Forums in hoping to find reasonable solutions..

Your profile indicates you have a 2019 Cougar Half Ton fifth wheel... If that's correct, there is no "hydraulic system" for any of your slides or landing gear/leveling system. It's all electric motor driven.

A low battery voltage (discharged battery) even when connected to shore power is very likely to be your major problem. Staying plugged into shore power over a prolonged time frame, without checking your battery fluid level, is one of the major issues with a low voltage condition. If you have "deep cycle/starting batteries" without screw off cell caps, then you might want to pull the label off the top and identify the "strip cap device" that closes the cells. Along the strip, you'll probably find a place to use a screwdriver to pry the strip cap off the cell openings to check the fluid level.

Remember, it's battery acid in the cells, so use adequate protection to prevent splashing the acid on yourself or your clothing....

My recommendation, before even considering a $1700 slide motor exchange, would be to completely troubleshoot the system. I'd suspect a bad battery and rule that out before anything else. Follow that with a relay swap and then wiring/ground connections, and then "maybe" look at the slide motors.... As long as you're not hearing a "crunching/grinding" from the motor, I'd focus elsewhere before spending that kind of money at Camping World....

The two slides on the "off" side should be cable drive and the entertainment slide on the "camp" side should be a rack and pinion, both are electric drives with no hydraulics anywhere in the RV.

If the issue follows the relay then the relay is defective. Replace the relay and also buy a spare. On rack & gear slides there's only one motor. The polarity is reversed to operate in the oposite direction. If the slide operates OK in one direction then the motor works. If it doesn't move in the opposite direction then the issue is not with the motor.

I have had slide motors work in one direction and not the other and it was the motor. Amp draw/voltage draw at the motor test will verify/rule out the motor.

I didn't read down thru this whole thread......however,
Have you tried to manually pull the slide in and/or out with the attachment that comes with the trailer?
Obviously, if you have, disregard me being late to the party.
If you haven't and it moves in and out this way it is more than likely electrical (if your slide is a cable system)
If it doesn't move in and out using the "flex rod" in the back of the motor you have bigger problems.
These things are just a process of elimination.
I have learned the hard way to carry extra relays. Not sure about yours but I assume it's the same if you have in-command...all the relays are the same for everything (slides, awnings, etc.)
I don't even mess around anymore. Once 1 goes out I am usually replacing all the relays for the slides or the awnings with the thought if one goes...another is probably getting ready too. (they are a cheap insurance policy to carry extras)
Low voltage at the batteries will also mess you up with electrical slides also.
Check your voltage. If it's lower than 12V that is a problem.

Good luck...I probably just parroted some of others thoughts but hope you get it fixed.

Is your slide system hydraulic? If not is it cable driven, Schwintech, or something else?

If its cable, the problem could be the motor itself. I replaced one of my motors just a few months ago. The slide would go in, but not out. Turned out the gears were broken. Easy fix, but the new motor did cost about $170. I was in a pickle though and paid the price from a local dealership. We were 900 miles from home.
