Skid Wheels

I have a 2017 Hideout, 27 1/2 total length. I notice that the back end comes close to hitting the ground backing up the drive (a hill) I was thinking of installing skid wheels. Any thought or suggestions?

If your only getting close, I would leave it alone.

There are two different styles that I know of. Solid wheel fixed, and urethane coated casters. If you could figure out where to mount them I would use the casters.

You must have a big transition to your driveway to get that close. Personally, I wouldn't worry about 3", that's still quite a bit of clearance. When loaded I doubt your trailer will be more than an inch lower that it is now. Depending on how you load it, you may find the back is actually higher. You can always measure before and after to verify. I know there are people who use skid wheels, I've just never felt comfortable with anything that would cause lifting on areas of the trailer not intended for lifting. I'd rather have someone watch while I'm backing in, if needed you can lay some 2x boards down under the wheels to provide more clearance.

Thanks, and thank you for your service. My dad was a 20 yr man in the AF and I was a 20 yr man in the Navy and my oldest son was a 20 yr man in the AF and 2 uncles that were career military as well. Proud heritage.

Mine drags in the driveway transition. It's drastic enough that the downhill tire lifts off the ground before the bumper hits. I use planks under the tires to ramp up and over the transition dip. For me, castors would carry a lot of weight here that I would rather not do.
