Noise when raining

I have a 2017 sprinter 319 mks. when it rains i get a noticeable thud outside the camper happens the hole time it rains then for a small time after i can only notice it in the bed room. Ive looked for anything. i can find anything out side to make it. ive checked make sure everything is secured ive gone on the roof to check and still cant figure it out. this is my second tt and i live out of them for abt 9 months a yr for last 7 yrs. everyone i work with also has rv and still cant figure this sound out. its driving me nuts. Please tell me someone has a anwser.

I've heard acorns/nuts hit that sound like a body dropping on the roof. Also, do you have slide topper and or electric patio asking? Thy can "self dump" and make a noise.

We had somewhat of the same problem. Every time it rains I could hear a
drop, drop drop and it sounded like a leak inside. I found it was water on the roof of the main slide running down the side of the slide and dripping
on the skirting, laid a cloth on the skirting and no more dripping sound.
will try to come up with better solution when we get home.
This may not help but food for though.

Well it happens only when raining, how about not a thud but drip as the water leaves the gutter and drips into the side. I used to hear that sound a lot. Got the gutter extensions for under 10 bucks and now no more thuds or drips hitting the sides.

I'm afraid what you are describing could be a million things. Without any of us being up close and personal with the rain, the amount, the environment surrounding the RV, the RV layout.....it's virtually impossible to figure that out. We've had "thuds", "pops", "thumps" and most every other kind of noise....some with nothing to worry about, others needed attention. Not cutting you short but I think that you will have to do the investigation to see where it's coming from and what could be the possible cause.....JMO.

No its not a drip i was hoping it was an just amplified by echo in the slide out but i can hear the run off of the roof. I do not have a slide out cover. It sounds like a popping like when you push on sheet meteal and it pops back into place. But i have a fiberglass camper. No metal of any size and i thought maybe the roof of the slide out was bowing and popping back to shape but already checked it. Im still at a loss and cant figure it out. I appreciate all the help tho.

Is your trailer a 5th wheel?
Could it be water running off of the nose and hitting the pin box?
If it's a TT - could it be water dripping onto the propane cover or battery box?

I have a tt and i dont think its the running onto the propane covers my tanks are built into the nose of the camper it maybe hitting the battery boxes . Attached is my camper the slide out in the front is the bedroom were i can hear it

Well bottom line, this is easy. Go outside when it rains and look and listen. You know what I think, I have not changed my mind. Water dripping from a higher point and hitting a lower point on the RV. Could be from rain with wind, the level of the RV the amount of rain etc etc.
I was stumped once with strange noise on the roof, turned out to be birds landing on it, some hopping around.

A couple of guesses (that's about all any of us can do from a distance):

Is it possible that water is running off the roof, onto the front cap (it's molded and looks like it would channel water to the lower front center) and then dripping onto the battery box?

Is it possible that the roof gutter that runs along the entire front side of the trailer is two pieces, where they join "should be sealed with silicone" and there is a gap or a bend that causes water to pool and drip onto the top of a slide?

And a suggestion:

Have you raised the front of the trailer a couple of inches to see if it changes the dripping sound? Lowered the front a couple of inches? Lifted one side or the other an inch or so? Any of those would alter the flow of water off the roof. Once you determine the low point, you may be able to follow the flow and identify a point where it's leaving the roof and dripping onto something below that area.
