Need new Batteries
OK, I'm in a high state of pisstivity!!!! Apparently in the last few days some Jack@$$ decided that he needed the 2 batteries off of our trailer more than we did... I had just mentioned to the wife that I should take the batteries off and put them in the garage too..... Crap!!!
Rant over...
They were 2 interstates group 24's so I figure since I need to spend the money anyway I'm looking at upgrading... Kind of confusing, as I've been reading up on the subject... We have 2 small kids and are mainly full hook up camping with a couple of short dry camping trips for me in between... Been thinking about staying with the 12 volt set up (easiest) and going up to a pair of bigger batteries... Not sure if switching to a pair of 6 volts is something we need to do.....
Suggestions as to set up, brands, etc...
I'm trying to balance our actual needs with having the most efficient, cost effective set up possible...
TIA
Dave

If you spend the majority of time using hookups, I would stay with 2 12volts. The extra cost (and weight) probably doesn't justify moving up to 2 6volts. With prudent use and some education with your kids about conserving battery energy while dry camping, you should be able to get by quite nicely with 2 12 volts.
Optima might be worth while considering as a brand.

You might want to go to the Interstate web site to get all the info you need. I have two SMR29 in my Laredo 5er and have never had a battery problem. They are well worth the peace of mind.

I've always used Interstates and have never had a problem. Got em in all 4 vehicles and trailer. Also had 4 on my boat and they endured many a rough seas / tuna fishing trips. I will always stay with Interstate. Just my 2 cents

I have 4 Costco 6 volt batteries, I do a lot of dry camping but I bought the Costco batteries since Interstate makes the Costco batteries, you save $$$ over a normal Interstate dealer.

I agree Costco has great batteries. They are actuall made by Johnson Controls that make batteries for several companies including Sear and Ford.

Yep, X2 on the Costco batteries, I use two group 27s. Johnson Controls makes most of the batteries on the market today.

I user the WalMart brand deep cycle batteries. They last the same 3 years that my previous interstate batteries lasted for 1/3rd less money. I also installed a 2550 LP Generator inside the front deck whis is very nice for dry camping

I dropped by Costco today and didn't see any 6V batteries. Shouldn't they be at the tire counter with the other batteries? I did see some honkin' huge 12V batteries, though. Wouldn't a pair of those be a good setup that's not as expensive as a 6V setup? I should have taken pictures and don't even know if they had prices posted since I was fixated on finding a 6V battery.
